Ashcroft's confirmation... Oh well...

Well, I guess it's the end of a lot of strides the civil rights movement made with the confirmation of Senator Ashcroft. Oh well... I knew this was gonna happen anyway. There was no way all of 'em "good ol' boyz" would do him like that. And Bush ain't being much help wit' it either. What the hell did the CBC talk to Bush about??? It's the same ol' chit happening all over again. Well, we'll just have to start lightin' our torches and promote, "burn baby burn" until I get some loot--'cuz that's the only thing "THEY" understand...

I feel the same in many respects. But I knew it would happen. I was reading a book on Black history, and in one section it talked about how cyclical (sp?) the cycle is for Black people. Example: We had more Blacks in government (local and federal) over 100 years ago during Restoration, than we do now. Due to Jim Crow, and plain out racism, we were shoved back into a slave like lifestyle. Then came the Civil Rights movements, and we got to where we are today. It's scary that it has taken us 100 years just to get back to the level of prominence that we had right after slavery.
Many of our people had money then to. But it doesn't seem to make a difference for long. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

The book is called BREAKING THE CHAINS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SLAVERY by Dr. Na'im Akbar. Ladies (and gents) let me tell you, this man's books are simply wonderful. He got his undergrad, masters, and Ph.D at UMich, and I believe has taught at FAMU and Norfolk. He addresses the Psychology from a Black point of view, and is just a very powerful author. If you can only read one book during this month, read that one. I think books like this are part of the first step to us finding ways to real progress OUTSIDE of the system run by Bush-it, and A$$-Croft (pardon my French)

Dr. Akbar is a Pan Afrikanist and is Afrikan Centered. He has written several books about psychological pathology of Afrikan enslavement process. He has suggested ways that we can remove our psychological "chains". Just a little note for African American History Month...

About the black cycle (sounds like PMS), it is interesting to note that the CBC just only spoke to Bush about their problems. The folks that participated with civil rights--which just 35 years ago when they have "colored" and "whites only" signs--have found themselves in a quandry. Meetings aren't working, marching isn't working and "they" don't care about boycotts anymore... So what can these folks do???

Folks like Na'im Akbar, Wade Nobles, Marimba Ani, Malidoma (who has 2 Ph.D.'s) may have suggested the only way out... The unrelenting pursuit of reconnecting to our Afrikan anscestry thru experiences dealing with the Africans on the continent. But even continental negroes want nothing to do with "us"... So, there must be a way we can convince our Afrikan brothers and sisters to reconnect with us and for us... That to me seems our only salvation.

Basically, what I saying is: Reparate me!!! Then give me dual citizenship to an African nation!!!
