The New BET
 

I was watching Soul Food on BET and a commercial just pissed me off. The commercial is for ExtenZe, a pill that's supposed to make men bigger "down there". The commercial is produced and starring the white Porno producer and actor named Ron. Don't ask me how I know that he's a porn star! The issue is that this commercial is on Black Entertainment Television(Even though it's not black owned anymore) at 12:45am. I'm pretty sure that there are a lot of people like me that don't want to see that CHITT!!! What is going to be the future of BET now that Porn producers and actors are being allowed to air their commercials? This really has me pissed. Why is it that when an outsider takes over a black owned business, they turn it into something that they think black people want or need? :confused:

Please help me to understand. I'm so mad that I'm going to bed.

Well it's a matter of demographic. Have you watched BET at night lately? All kinds of soft core porn on there. So that commercial is reaching out to the teenage boys who only have basic cable, lol.

Granted, I dont watch much tv anymore, but BET has not been interesting to me pretty much since they introduced that Uncut show. It is soooo demeaning to black women in my view that I can not support that channel by watching ANY of their programming.

This is all to say of course, that that commercial does not surprise me.

Ooooh, we were watching at the same time. I was hoping and wishing it was the local station that inserted that commercial somehow. It was only like midnight - dang!!! At least let it be 3am before showing such rubbish.

OMG, i was just thinking about this commercial the other day. I didn't know he was a porn star! I was asking myself why they couldn't find at least an attractive guy to be in that lame commercial.

BET has been disrespecting black men and women with their programming long before it wasnt black owned. But as long as they continue to get folx to tune in and watch their programming...they will be doing the same ol -ish!

No, you two weren't watching BET at the same time...they just show the darn commercial every time they get a chance to. Before the started showing the extenze commercials Girls Gone Wild, was coming on every commercial break...I am not lying. I found out about uncut one night and the things they were doing almost made me vomit.:(

They have been showing tat commerical almost every night around midnight with the Girls Gone Wild tape, which actually bothers me becuase there are no sistahs in the tape only white girls. But anyway, I have caught Uncut and the last time I saw it had Ludacris's video "P*ssy Poppin" and I must say that it totally disgusted me. I haven't watched Uncut since then. Does MTV run things like this and aren't they owned by the same company?

The fact that there are no black women on a GGW tape has yet to bother me.

Although anyone who has every been to Greekfest in Philly, or back in the day at Freaknik know there are plenty who would jump they skanky butts at the chance.

Word. And not to mention Black Tail magazine.:rolleyes:

This is why I hate BET. The onyl time I watch that channel is to catch up on the seasons of Soul Food that I missed when I didn't have cable.

If it was yesterday, then I was watching Soul Food too:). I haven't watched BET in a while so when I saw Soul Food with Tyra in it and figured I'd watch. That's the only time I've seen that commercial and I hope it stays that way. TV is just becoming too :eek: . I think I'll stick to Toon Disney :)

Hey we shouldn't knock the Disney channel...because I watch it quite often myself:)

Oh trust me, I wasn't knocking it. I was raised on and will always love Disney :D. I'd love to work for Pixar too someday.

Hey, you know, you havta wonder...

The programming on BET is what the "powers that be" APPROVES what most of those of African desent need to be watching...

Just another form of enslavement...

Folks don't call it the "Boob Tube" fo nuthin'...

Hubby just called me from work (booting me off the computer for a minute) to tell me to turn to BET and see the commerical. I was like :eek: then I was :mad: . What kind of hot mess was that?? It was just disgusting to say the least. I bet you won't see that isht on VH1 or MTV, but they'll show it on our (at least it used to be ours) channel.

When is that new black network coming out? I'm sick of BET.
