What are you thankful for this year?

this year is the first year I have my own house!!!! so either my best friend/ex boyfriend and his mom will be coming over here, or we will be going to his house after I see my family.

My husband and I finally own a home that we can host Thanksgiving (with the help of Mom and Dad). We are very excited to have everyone over.

This year I am thankful for (and am every year) the health and wellness of my friends and family!

I am headed home to CA for thanksgiving with my family...I sadly have to leave my fiancee in AZ cause he has to work...But I will probably go visit his family while I am out there too...As usual, my family is going out to dinner for thanksgiving...It is tradition cause my grandmother doesn't want my mom or my aunt making a fuss over her...so we go out instead...A really nice restaurant is in the plans as usual...And while I am out there I am going hunting for a place for my wedding finally....

We have a tradition in our house: Thanksgiving in Indiana w/ Mr. Adrienne's family, Christmas at home w/ mine.
All of the kids (ie, his 4 bros and sis w/ their wives, kids, etc) show up and take over the house. Card tables set up for Euchre, and they insist on topping potatoes with boiled fine egg noodles. (I already warned my MIL I'm bringing my own gravy this year!!!)

As for thankful--check my other thread. Mr. Adrienne's condition is likely to not be NEARLY as severe as we thought it could be. Anything else could collapse right now and I'll still be grateful for that.

Dunno where it'll be yet. Most likely at his aunt's house or his youngest sister's house-- our place is too small, and younger sister is currently replacing all of the copper pipes in their c. 1903 house.

I'm thankful that I'm out of grad school, and that my dear and loving hubby is almost done with his current class-- it's driving him crazy.

I'd be more thankful for my health if I weren't coming down with a *cold!*

I will be making the 8-hour drive home to spend it with my family! I'm so super excited and can't wait! Before this past Friday, I hadn't seen my family since Easter weekend, so I was so happy to see them, and even more happy that I will be making the trip to be with them in a few short weeks!

I'm thankful for so much this year... having such wonderful family and friends, great health with everyone, being one semester closer to graduation, and so much more :)

My brother & sister-in-law always host Thanksgiving dinner on their farmette (35 acres). They have between 10-20 people, depending on how many people we each know who have nowhere to go. It gets interesting! We get semi-mauled by their herd of Dobermans, eat too much, play board games (Tackle Pictionary & Balderdash are favorites) and head home much too late to be driving in the extreme dark.

We weren't sure if it was going to be there this year, as my s-i-l's father recently had his bladder removed for cancer. But he's doing well, so the plan is on. With any luck at all, I'll head to Chicago to see my honey the next day! :)

I'm thankful for so much! For my health, for a roof over my head, for computers, for common sense, and my sisters!! :)

I'm headed to St. Louis. I'm going to see family and friends. And actually eat this year!
What I'm thankful for has to do with my comment above. I am thankful that I get to eat real food this Thanksgiving (last year I had surgery).

It sounds like my Thanksgiving will be spent here at home, with my mom and I putting up our Christmas tree...it's a two-day process! :)

I'm most thankful for the love of family and friends, and improving health after my surgery earlier this year. I'm also thankful for my sisters around the world, both ones I've had the personal pleasure of meeting and those I've been able to connect with online, like here on GC! :)

I'm stuck at school this year -- I have a choir concert that night. This is the first time ever that I won't be able to spend Thanksgiving with my family... not that it's the most important holiday for us anyway, but still.

In any case, I'm thankful for my emotional strength, which has pulled me through a lot of hard stuff this past year... and for all my friends who have helped me get through it all.

I'm cooking. DH and I celebrate the holiday with another couple that took me in when I first moved out here. This is our year to entertain. We eat a lot, watch football, and end the evening with Trivial Pursuit - girls v. boys. A lot of fun!

I'll be spending the holiday with good friends, who, like me, are thousands of miles away from home. :)

Who has good and easy Thanksgiving recipes to share?

I'm afraid I don't cook Thanksgiving from recipes - except pie. The rest (mashed and sweet potatoes, etc) fall in the "a little bit of this, a little bit of that" category. I"m lucky that my grandmother taught me how to cook for the holidays. I'm at a loss to make a meal for 14 people, but if it's a turkey dinner I'm all set!:D

Gosh, I've been cooking since I was old enough to hold a spoon! I made my first full dinner at the age of seven, and have made Christmas dinner ever since I was about 18. One of the family jokes was when I took my first home ec class, and the teacher asked if anyone knew how to make macaroni & cheese. She called on me, and I said, "It's easy. You start with a white sauce, then gradually stir in the cheese..." She sent a note home with me, commending my mama for teaching me how to make a white sauce at 8!

Anyhow, I found this recipe & I'm going to try it for Thursday:

Party Potatoes
These can be made the day before & refrigerated, then baked the next day!

Ingredients:
9 large potatoes
8 ounces cream cheese
1 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons onion salt
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons butter

Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 350º. Grease a 2-quart casserole dish, and set aside.
2) Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook potatoes in boiling water until tender; drain, and transfer to a large mixing bowl. Mash until smooth. Stir in the rest of the ingredients except the butter. Beat until light and fluffy. Transfer to the prepared casserole dish, and dot with pieces of butter.
3) Bake for 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until heated through.

Serves 8.
