Internet Babies

I'm suprised this topic has not come up yet...

What do you ladies think of the controversy the babies that were recently sold over the internet. In case you haven't heard, here is the run-down:

1. African American woman is pregnant with twins and decides to use a 'baby broker' to put her children up for adoption.

2. A interracial couple in California adopted the children. There was a (I think) $6,000 'fee' for the adoption.

3. The mother came back in the picture and 'tricked' the couple into giving her the babies because another couple (white) in Great Britian agreed to pay a higher 'fee'.

4. The couple in Cali feels like their children were stolen. The gov't in GB has taken the children into protective custody. The mother is also saying that she wants the children back.

What do you think about this? Who deserves the babies? Do you think the 'finders fee' that the broker changed is really a way to sell the babies to the highest bidder?

Eclipse, great question
i agree w/meeks, the first couple should keep the cutie patooties. from what i understand, they may go to the biological father. that sounds good, as well. they just don't need to go to that mother (who wouldn't have been left alone w/the babies, i don't care what she said). she's not stable, although the picked a good attorney.

yes eclipse i was surprised no one brought it up either....

I was watching this story on dateline last night and after hearing all sides, i believe that the girls should go to the first couple. they were the initial couple to have them. now granted the mother does have the right under their particular states law to change her mind after 90 days. the inital adoptive parents even asked her repeatedly if this was what she wanted to do and she said yes. but if she changed her mind then that is her right and it should be respected. now why she went and took them back only to give them to someone else is beyond me.

in my personal opinion i think she and the adoption broker were going for that money. they charged that english couple $12,500 for those girls (who in my opinion should be priceless)

the one thing that grabbed at me was that the pyschologist they had on said that the girls were getting to an age where they are going to begin to become aware of all this mess... its really too bad.

well sorry for the long post, this matter really tugged at my heartstrings.
