Dick Gephardt - Man of Principle
Democrat or not, this is pretty cool:
Dick Gephardt (active Beta Theta Pi alumn) uses "A Man of Principle" as a slogan in his presidential campaign. This just happens to be the same slogan that Beta Theta Pi uses for its 'cause' to better our chapters. hmmm, coincidence? I think not. I thought it was pretty cool. Anyone else know if any other candidates are Greek? See here: Man of Principle |
Other candidates who are Greek? The President, active alum and undergraduate president of Phi of Delta Kappa Epsilon.

DG may be a good guy, but ...
I love the Betas, and DG may be a good guy, but ...
Why would I vote for him or any of the nine Democratic mice who promise to raise taxes? Is there anyone who thinks taxes are too low? Is there anyone who thinks social security benefits should be taxed? Is there anyone who thinks the labor unions should have more power (and DG is definitely in bed with them)? |
Hoosier:
I used to be a Republican, I was a page at the 1984 Republican convention in Dallas and have voted for every Republican for president from Reagan to Bush in 2000, but I am so sickened by the cynical approach of this adminstration and the catering to the religous right that this libertarian just might vote for a Democrat. Bush lied about Iraq and I don't like liars. I wish John McCain had won the GOP nomination. Glenn |
That's why it's tough for lots of folks that usually vote Rep (for lack of a better choice). I'd probably be voting for a moderate-libertarian candidate if one existed... However, I've never heard of such a thing running for an elected office.
I think the Bush White House's economic policy has actually been pretty good. My only issue is that you're raising expenses while decreasing income. In the long run, this is bad. The gamble is that because individual's revenues will increase, so will taxes. Gosh, I hope they're right. As for Iraq, I'm not sure what to believe. I'm skeptical of people that say Iraq didn't have WMD's. I think it wouldn't have been impossible for them to hide them in another country. Iran or Syria would have probably obliged just to spite the US. I'm not sure if it was a lie or not. I'll probably end up voting for Bush for lack fo a better candidate. Yeah, and I'm not down with the religious right. I don't know where legislating morality actually factors into being a "conservative". Maybe that's his "compassionate" part? I just couldn't see myself voting for someone who's platform includes a tax hike of ANY kind. |

I want Greeks in Govt. The more people who understand brotherhood, the more people who understand why this country was founded in the first place. A place where everyone would be free, free to pursue happiness. How could be happy without fraternity brothers?

Carol Mosley Braun is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
I am very proud of her, she has been a first in many important areas, as many Deltas have been throughout the last century, she is very poised, articulate, and serious about her run for The Office...also, she often wears her Crimson and Cream while debating the issues of the day among her fellow Democratic candidates. :D I hope she is givern more coverage so that people can stop ignoring her and that her campaign continues to pick up endorsements. |
Being a transplant Kansan from Missouri, Dick is the right word.
Had a very crappy voting record as was gone so damn much! So much for taking care of The Countrys business.:( While Harry Truman said the Buck stops here, I think the Dick stops here! I used to think Dick wold make a good Pres. well once again he has proven me wrong! |
greeks in the gov
there are a lot of Greeks in government. Currently there are 4 Beta Senators. I am sure other fraternities have some as well.
Also, lay off DG. Thats my boy. Phi kai Phi ! |
Alpha Sigma Phi has Congressman Frank Wolf (R- Virginia). Before he went to Fox as a commentator, John Kasich (R-Ohio) was our other Alpha Sig in Congress.

Enough Dick bashing. Go bash your own Dick, but leave my Dick out of it. ha ha
Anyway, any other Greek president candidates? |

Recent tax cuts and the increases in spending due to the war and other things have sent the national deficit into astronomical proportions. Sooner or later the entities (bonds, etc) will have to be paid somehow. That money has to come from somewhere. And, no, we can't just print more. |
