So about Houston...

Wheres a cool place to have a beer?

My family lives there (sugarland, actually) and since I dint grow up there, AND my sister and brother-in-law have a full time jobs and a kid they dont get out much, so they dont know whats a fun place to hang out.

I will be there this weekend to visit them, and it happens that a few good friends will also be in Houston that weekend, so I want to go meet them for a beer. They have put it in my lap to find a few cool places. Thinking cool bars, not necessarily trendy ass places, just some chill places, maybe even microbrew type places. NO DANCECLUBS. I am not the danceclub kinda kid, 'cause I am not lookng to hook up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

where to start.

Ok, first of all. Get on 290 and take it west till you hit HWY 6. Then take HWY 6 north until you reach College Station. Make a right on Old College at Carney's Bar and Pub is on your left. Keep going down Old College into Bryan and the Ptarmagin is on your right.

You're not a danceclub kid? Well, i know you're right about the KID part, but i coulda swore you were a danceclub hooker :D

Have not partied in Houston. But I was invited by friends, no scratch that, aquaintances to a party at The Red Door in Houston last month.

Sounded like a fun place. Something about double chocolate martinis.

And actually the guys who invited me are very cool. I hope they never find this website and see I actually said that. :p :D It would go straight to their heads. LOL.

If the issue is **BEER**

I would do The Ginger Man on Morningside in West Univ. Place.

Major medical center hangout, site of many a Rice U. pub crawl.

These people are serious about *beer*. There are at least 30 on tap at any given time and a couple of hundred in their Beer Menu (yes they have one.)

Very rustic kind of feel--no one will notice if you spill anything, but it doesn't stink and there are outdoor patios, etc, etc, etc.

Most of all it's unpretentious and very "come as you are".

The Red Door? Means its either a Sig Ep place or an Elizabeth Arden place. lol.

Just kidding. Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming. Beer is always the issue, lol.

So who all lives there? I'll be visiting after the regular season is over. One of my best friends plays for the Texans. Being from Florida we both thought they'd have nothing but chicks in cowboy hats and wearing wranglers. He says we were both definitely wrong. He says they got hot some chicks there, and they can get down with the best of us Floridians. Seriously, boy says they got some tight females there. Anyhow, I was wondering if any of you wanna meet me. Lemme know which of you will be there. And I have heard about the dance clubs there, tight as well. Being D;Fuse's home town, I'd think it'd be Trance captial of the Texas.
