I just wanted to say hi! i am new to this, but i just wanted to ask everyone what kind of pride events are successful. i am having trouble thinking of good ideas that won't cost too much and that sisters would want to come to. thanks

Facials...Outings to Denny's or Ice Cream are also fun...Umm...Making simple craft projects like flower pens is fun...also hiking trips and things can work well...Umm...Having the prides each run a cor event can be great too...and then money can come from the recruitment budget...Umm...what else has been fun...Oh prides running alpha ed can be very entertaining...Other things to do...Movie nights...Cooking dinner or a dessert as a group...One of my chapter's favorites are what we call hallway picnics...Where every member of the pride brings something to eat and share with the others...and we setup in the hall of our wing and eat together...It is great to see all the stuff people bring to share...Umm...That is all I can think of right now...but more will come to me...

thursday must see tv nights at the house/suite, movie nights, ice cream socials, get together for dinner at one of the cafeterias (everyone has to eat at some time), if there are events on campus (comedian, speaker, etc) attend as a pride, study hrs at the library
i'm trying to think back from the events i had when i was a pride leader but its been a couple years. I'll post again if i remember some more |
How about making dinner for the local Ronald McDonald House as a pride? Or, learning a new song (from the cd?) to teach to the Chapter?
I've often thought of this, but never knew how it would work: could each pride get one of those gingerbread house kits, and make them with Ronald McDonald House? Maybe someone at RMH could judge them as to originality, use of candies, etc. I'm sure there are many alumnae who would gladly provide the kits and/or candy trimmings for this. |
We got together for movie nights, cooking dinner, going mini-golfing, going and playing pool at the school's game room, and a lot of other little things that are escaping my mind at the moment. You could probably turn a lot of day-to-day activities into a pride event....prides taught New Member Ed one week for each new group of Alphas, but we didn't count that as a Pride Event. The opportunity to spend time with your sisters and get to know them better doesn't have a lot of limits to it...just make sure that no matter what you do, you are still being a great representative of Alpha Delta Pi! :)

Thank you all for your great ideas!

I think organizing pride events around regularly scheduled events are the way to go- then people don't get resentful about one more thing they have to do. especially for chapters who COR- use those prides!!
