Middle School Athletic Hazing Incident

They are doing this report on local news but there's no link on the local news web site yet. When there is, I will post it, but here's my own summary:

It's called 8th grade hit day. During the last day of football practice for the season, the 8th graders each pick a 7th grade player to "tackle" and the 7th grader cannot fight back. After one boy was "hit" for the 3rd time, he had a compound fracture of two bones in his leg which punctured his skin leading to severe bleeding. The kid is hospitalized now. The coaches were present during this!

Seventh grade! I'm floored.

Anything for the sake of great and almight football...

I've actually heard about this happening in several places between freshman and 8th graders, seniors and freshman, seniors and juniors...

It's obvious you never played any competitive sport.

Yep, just track, cross-country, softball, volleyball, basketball...oh wait, none of those are football so they don't matter.

My high school had some serious hazing issues in a lot of sports, but I think football was one of the worst because we were a state championship football team so nobody would say or do anything to them. Now that they've started losing, I think things will be getting looked at more seriously.

I'm not proud to admit this, but I actually got an athletic suspension because of a girl who tried to haze me in track. She also got suspended, but what pissed me off the most is that the football players did stuff that was so much worse, and nobody said anything to them.

lol

Don't worry. I'd never watch the WNBA (Bunch of hourses clip-clopping up and down the court playing under the rim basketball).

Stan-
I still want the WUSA back!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like Title IX lawsuit potential.

Have you seen the story where there was an after-game party, and some booze.

Two cheerleaders at the party were kicked off the squad, but a football player was only suspended for a game.

Sounds like Title IX lawsuit potential.

Yes, but they weren't hot and didn't wear expensive jeans, so they aren't good enough for Rudey. ;) There was actually a girl at my high school who played football and was quite good...I just wish she could have played powder puff too! ;)

Actually a guy I worked with has a daughter who was a place kicker on her high school team and, I think, also was Homecoming Queen. That wasn't a token, she is a really beautiful young woman.

She later tried out, and made the University of Colorado football team -- but never got to play much -- although she did kick in a few games.

Kickers have much different builds. It'd still be weird to have a girl on the football team though. Bunch of pansies.
