"largest amount ever"????
Congrats to these guys, but I doubt if their claim of "largest amount ever" is anywhere near true.
10/26/2003 (HAMDEN, CT) — At a time when most college students are soundly asleep or just going to bed, the brothers of Quinnipiac University's Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity watched the sunrise at the top of Sleeping Giant State Park. And they watched the sunset there too. In honor of one of their most famous brothers — Ronald Reagan — the 42 fraternity members woke around 4 a.m., each vowing to hike to the lookout tower atop the Hamden peak as many times as their legs would allow Saturday. The event raised money for the Alzheimer Association's Ronald and Nancy Reagan Institute. The first hikers hit the uphill trail at 6 a.m., and the goal was to raise more than $3,500 by the time the last hikers wearily stepped off the trail 12 hours later at 6 p.m. By 4 p.m., the brothers had made the three-mile round trip a total of 170 times, raising roughly $3,000 in donations from local businesses and community members, many of whom pledged $5 for each trip made. Several other businesses made donations in large or small amounts, they said. The $3,500 is the largest amount ever garnered by a TKE chapter in a single fund-raising event, they said. "We are really proud," said Vice President Andrew Mallardi |
sounds like they meant to say it was the largest they've raised in their chapter's history. Congrats to them though, sounded like a great philantropy

Maybe it is to their knowledge? lol Doesn't hurt really the local press only goes so far and I don't think if a TKE chapter has raised more they mind the claim.
