If you had the opportunity to Moderate...
THIS or any other GC forum:
1. Which forum would you want to moderate? 2. How would you "moderate? (Your "style") 3. What would you implement? |
1. Which forum would you want to moderate?
Although it would be an esteemed honor to Mod. this forum yall are doing a great job so I would say the Phi Alpha Delta board (my Law Fraternity) 2. How would you "moderate? (Your "style") I would probably characterize it as energetic and inviting to all (Prelaw, Law, and Alum Brothers and Sisters as well as Law, Prelaw, & Alum Prospectives) 3. What would you implement? 1) Questions and Answers about the benefits of membership 2) Open discussions about hazing/ initiation / recruitment/ community service. Although in our District we have great get-togethers and communication where we were able to share ideas (like I really like the Langston chapters 'process' I learned a lot it from my fellow PAD members from Howard Univ. and tried to implement some at my school). 3) I would also like to engage in discussions about a more uniform process across the board. 4) Also posting events. We have a lot of 'famous' members who remain VERY active. It would be nice to know when a Supreme Court Justice brother or Sister is visiting or when prominent attorneys are being hosted as well. (We have a list serve but it is too huge to keep up with so one central place to check in would be great.) 5) Also a section of accomplishments or achievements would be nice for example when PAD members pass the bar we are invited to attend a swearing in ceremony at the Supreme Court *crossing fingers*, some gets the highest grade in class, makes Moot Ct, or starts their own firm... stuff like that For the most part the board is pretty dead so I guess the first order of bizz-nezz would be to get the word out there about it. :) |
Truly, Soror 2D, after the mess that went on up in here the other day, I have to say that I don't envy the job that you and the other moderators have. I may not have the patience to handle "situations" as gracefully as they have been dealt with.

1. I wouldn't feel right moderating any other forum than my own organization so this one.
I think that this forum is run right on point. What needs to be discussed is and what should be kept private is. I have been on greekchat for some years now and I remember when the boards were not that active and that we use to have some people getting shut down and regulated because of pure foolishness. I think this forum and all the NPHC forums make it crystal clear that foolishness will not be allowed. 2. My style would be like my classroom, very free to express your self on appropriate topics and discussions. I would have the same ZERO tolerance our moderators have. Since I am a teacher I have to deal with holding my tongue and respectfully dealing with idiots all the time. 3. I would love to have a way just sorors could discuss things but that would require another forum. I would like to see more discussions on the path the NPHC's organizations are taking without peole getting so upset or "overprotective". |

2. and 3. Nothing different. I think ALL of the moderators do a great j-o-b and with the patience of J-o-b. |

Feedback, please! Thanks in Advance! |
i tend to read a lot more of the D9 boards than i actually post - but i have to say the moderating in these particular forums is above par! there is always a "moderating presence," sanity and decorum are maintained, and everybody understands (and for the most part respects) the process - what more can you ask for?

I am asking because the site could go through some changes and feedback from the "masses" might help the administrator and his team with these changes/upgrades.

oh i see!
well in that case - i think that it is a great situation when any given forum has several ACTIVE mods who also have a vested interest in the forum (such as being a member of the org or having experience in a particular process like AI or rush) i also get the impression that the forums with clearly expressed rules and guidelines for posting (and mods who enforce them) tend to have fewer problems - it's even more helpful when these rules are not "open for discussion" and are highlighted at the top of the forum permanently finally - as simple as this sounds - have mods who actually ENFORCE (and abide by) the TOS and rules/guidelines of the forum. having a mod who starts crap in other forums doesn't do the board as a whole any good and having a mod who lets that crap fly on their particular forum is just as useless... - marissa edited to add - this is exactly why i like the D9 forums! |

I think the General Forums need AT LEAST 2 Mods each (in case a Mod goes MIA), with ChitChat & GL having more like 5 or 6. Also, I think each general forum needs at least 2 Mods that aren't buddy-buddy. We are all human, and we don't treat people equally, as much as we try. If you get too many Mods in one Forum who are buddy-buddy, then you have a whole group of people that get away with whatever, and other people that get every other post/thread deleted/locked.

Great job Moderators. I would not want to have to deal with this issues that you all face everyday here. |

Even though there is a chat feature on here, is it actually used? Are there scheduled or even spontaneous chats? I think that may be nice.
