Disney Internship
Has anybody done the Disney Internship thing? I've recently been accepted into the program and I just wanted to know if anybody else has done it before.
|
One of my chapter sisters did it. She LOVED it. She's a Zoology major and got to work in The Animal Kingdom and just thought it was great!

No But I am Jealous

Do a search on here. Everyone said they hated it and were forced to pick up trash from the park I think.
-Rudey --But there are a lot of Greeks that do it. |

Most of the time you don't end up getting to do the job(s) you wanted to do and you end up doing bullshit jobs like picking up trash and making burgers and fries. Why do you think Disney does this program? They arent doing it to improve the business skills of the young professionals in the world, they are doing it because they can't find anyone else to do the "shat jobs." |
I would only do it if I could be Cinderella or Tinkerbell :) since the chances of that happening are close to none - i wouldn't do the program.
A lot of people I know who have done it say that the actual work itself kinda blows - but you meet really cool people from all over the US doing it. so thas a reward in itself. |

-Rudey --I would have taken her in Mr. Toad's Wild Ride for sure. |
One of my chapter sisters did it, loved it, and it was the reason she decided to transfer to UCF.
I'll tell you one thing about working in Disney. Your experience depends a lot on where you work, who your manager is, and how you like your coworkers. But hey, you get free admission... to me that's worth it right there! |

But I do know of a couple who met while working there and will get married this summer! :) |
I did it. Whoever said that it depends on where you work, your coworkers, roommates, etc. were right. I, personally, enjoyed my program. Not enough to go back, but I digress. If you have alot of bills, don't go. Also, try to save as much money as you can before you go. On the brighter side, you do get in parks free, meet a lot of people from everywhere, and have a great night life in downtown Orlando. PM me if you want to.

My roommate last year did the Intership her sophomore year of college and had a blast! Since she came back our freakin apartment was covered in Disney (slightly annoying). She had gotten to be a character because she's a tiny little thing (Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Dopey, and one of the Chipmunks!!) She graduated in May and moved back to Orlando because she had already arranged to have a job there. She said the pay sucked during the internship, but now she has a full time job there with housing and a nice salary. I wanted to do the advanced internship at Hilton Head Island but blew it off....Anyway, I think you have to go into it with a totally open mind. You may have to pick up trash, clean bathrooms, or Schlep out cokes and hot dogs. But even Cinderella had to do a little dirty work before she got to go to the ball.....;)

She had a blast and is always taking us up there to see friends she met and people she still talks to...her internship ID hadnt expired right away so we got to go to all of the parks free with her!!! tons of fun!! we even got discounts in the stores and at certain food places....anyways she had a blast...i myself could never see myself going... but she was a hospitality major and got to work in one of the major resort hotels and had alot of fun... she wants to go back after she is done with school to look for a job.. i guess it all depends on your experience ;) have fun! |
I did it and loved it. I had an "Advanced Internship" working as a group facilitator for the Youth Education Series. Basically, I took field-tripping groups of students around the parks on educational programs. It was very fun, and a great learning experience. My roommates were pretty cool, and the pay was alright. I'm sure my attitude would have been very different had I been slinging hash at the Electric Umbrella, though. :)

that would be fun to do an internship with!
