...that Debbie Allen was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. I know Phylicia Rashad is a soror...but I have always heard that Debbie Allen was a member of another organization. Someone please enlighten me.

Sexy Mocha, you are not alone I had always heard the same thing. And yesterday when I read that I was surprised. I am not a member (BTW, CONGRATS!, but that one makes me go hMMM! But I guess it is verifiable, if it is indeed true.

I was under the impression that she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta...but since I came across this bit of info. in the DST forum (Debbie being an AKA) I guess I was wrong. I didn't think she was a soror though. I have been on-line checking all morning, but to no avail. This has really peaked my curiosity.

Every now and then I like to sneak a peek into the other forums and see what they're chatting about. You're right about second guessing myself. First, I was like "Well, maybe she isn't a Delta, but I know she's not an AKA" Then that turned into "IS she an AKA?!?" Which led to "They (Debbie and Phylicia) ARE sisters...right??"

Debbie Allen is NOT an AKA. She's a Howard Alumnus...trust me the Deltas showered Debbie with love when she would come on campus. And Phylicia got the same love from her Sorors of AKA when she came to visit.

Biological sisters...YES...Sorors...NO

So, you are saying that Debbie is a Delta? Simply because she was "showered" with love? Or is this a fact?

Just asking...

Cause "we" "showered" many people (visitors) on our campus, but they were not necessarily Sorors.

I did not think Debbie was a Soror. It is a FACT that her sister, Phylicia IS an Alpha Chapter Soror.

Hello Sisterfriends of AKA!

I am glad I spotted this topic before I posted the question "Is Debbie Allen an AKA?" I have honestly NEVER heard that she's a Delta, and I've been a member of DST for almost 4 years now (and I attended Howard for 2 years). Where have I been?!?!?! I've done research (since a post in our forum by an Alpha chapter Zeta said that she's my Soror), and can't find ANYTHING that claims Debbie Allen as a Delta! I think we can conclude that, while she is a Howard alumna and sister of an Alpha Chapter AKA, she's not in a sorority at all. What do you think? If there are any Alpha chapter sorors and AKAs who can fill us in, that'd be much appreciated. Debbie ALlen is such a phenomenal woman that you can't blame us for wanting to claim her, right? Still, I wouldn't want to perpetuate any rumors that aren't true!

Hey Y'all!

I am not sure but I was told (I'm not an Alpha Chapter soror but I was made in DC)that she wasin the Ivy Leaf Plegde Club but dropped. I was also told that she was extended membership into Delta Sigma Theta and after they found out that bit of info the issue of her honorary membership was dropped in some way shape or form. This info may not be 100% correct but I heard it from a pretty reliable source. That is why so many people don't know if she is one, the other or both. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif

ok, i asked two of my big sisters and one says yes she's a soror, the other says no she is not. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif so i'm going to leave this one alone, until i can get some more info but to be sure Alpha Chapter doesn't recognize her, nor do i, and i have never seen any AKA publication add her as a famous member, i remember one year she visited and a soror told me she addressed the deltas as her soror, even doing their sign? i was under the impression that she was a soror of dst, but we all know rumors are neverending http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
