Have yet to see it--BUT for those who have....


Is it even worth it..does it even compare to the first one?!

Im not sure what to think, I havnt heard very much about it from others....

I haven't seen the first one from 1974. I saw the 2003 one last night. It was pretty scary, I thought.

I haven't seen Jeepers Creeper (1 or 2), Wrong Turn, nor Cabin Fever, but I wanna, along with the re-release of ALIEN!

According to my sources the movie itself isn't as scary/good as the original, however, Jessica Biel's bare midrif is quite pleasant to look at.

On TRL when Jessica Biel was on the other day, it showed an audience's reaction while watching the movie-- it was HILARIOUS-- people were freakin out.

The 1974 version was terrifying. I saw it on cable last year and I had to turn it off. It freaked me out! :eek: :eek: :eek:

well this is my first time to watch anything that was associated with "leather face" let me tell ya.....it freaked me out. all other scary movies you can say are fake, but this actually happened. i even think they use real footage from the police tapes. and stupid me went to a haunted house right afterwards. at the very end a guy w/ a fake chainsaw chased me right out of the place. ohh goodness:eek: :eek:

I saw the movie last night and it scared the crap out of me. I screamed like a little girl, twice. Very scary stuff, man. I haven't seen the original, so I can't compare the two. But, I will say the 2003 version is worth your time/money.

Yes, I've seen the original (it scared the bejeezus out of me), so I won't even bother to see the remake of it. Would never be comparable.

FYI - It's been said that when the original was shown in the movies theaters, some people wanted a refund b/c the movie was that scary. :eek: :eek:

The footage at the beginning is the opening footage of the Original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Be advised it really didn't happen but it is Tobe Hooper's account of Ed Gein, the Wisconsin man who killed some people and used their body parts as things around the house (i.e. the skull was hollowed out and made into a bowl). To read that story is truly terrifying and there are millions of websites dedicated to this man. If interested, check out Leatherface's bbq shack or log on to deathanddementia.com and go to their crime and punishment site.

This one and Veronica Guerin...

Texas chainsaw is soooo damn scary. It is worth going to see. I usually hate scary movies, and this was ridiculous. I also saw Veronica Guerin, which could be the best this year. I don't know, RotK will most likely rock too, but this was a GREAT movie. I think Blanchett deserves the best actress Oscar for her role. I have never seen anyone portray a character with more passion or heart. Overall, a great film. See this one for the incredible character portrayal as well as super intense story. Whew!

This movie seems way to scary for my taste. I hate scary movies and can't sleep after watching one. LOL - think Haunted Mansion will be just my speed - me and all the kids can enjoy the PG-13 level of scariness!!

really wanted to see texas chainsaw this weekend but i didn't get a chance to. i hit the bottle a little too early to go see a movie on friday.

for some strange reason I kinda want to see huanted mansion too. i went on the ride in my younger years.

1) It wasn't as good as the original, though no films ever are (maybe Cape Fear and Ocean's Eleven and a couple others escaping me right now).

2) Filmakers these days have to figure out that GORE doesn't always mean SCARY.

3) I jumped at times, but there were the cliches; cars not starting all of a sudden, characters who only show up to move the plot along, and finally, the group of kids who do nearly EVERYTHING wrong while each of them get killed one by one till either the hottie or the protagonist (or both) are alive.

Needless to say, another atypical teen "horror" film. Watch the original.

I do expect someone to note that I always say something bad about films....and honestly, this is my opinion: 99% of all ideas for GREAT movies have already been done, and knowing that the masses crave for mindless stunts/violence instead of intelligent plot, we're given the formula movie that's being retold in another way just like the other 30 movies like it that have come out the last couple of years. Don't get me wrong, I love a good obscene comedy, but when they just want to gross you out more than make you laugh/shriek, then nevermind. Happy Gilmore, Tommy Boy and Dumb and Dumber are classics because they never wanted to push the envelope, unlike Freddy Got Fingered, Tomcats and Slackers.

My defense? Kangaroo Jack was at one point the #1 movie in America.

I thought it was scary in the sense that I jumped at times, but going into it, I had higher expectations that I would completely be terrified after I saw it. However, I am not a fan of scary movies and tend to get scared pretty easily, (heck I thought Scream was just as scary as this movie) but I thought it was just OK. But I'd still recommend it to those who haven't seen it yet.

I must say it's definitely more fun to watch horror movies in a packed theater because there are always the obnoxious people who scream at the characters, but also the annoying guys who decided to periodically scream, "Jessica Biel is so hot!" through the entire movie. :rolleyes:

I gave in and saw it... since my boss had said it was scarier than the original and I haven't seen the original nor do I want to, I thought it would have been worse. But I did find myself screaming along with everyone else during some parts. I thought Jessica Biel was really good in it-- the whole covering her mouth every time she was hiding was funny. There were some funny/stupid lines in there, like when she said "Sorry!" after she stabbed her friend... and also when the little boy was like, "Don't let him get you!" It sucked that that guy with the glasses risked his life and ultimately sacrificed it for Jessica... meanwhile, when he's in trouble, she just runs off and ditches him! That "sheriff" has been in something else, I can't remember though-- it was like the same type of part, maybe?
