Did it in 3 years

I am so proud right now to be a fouding father of my fraternity. Why you may ask well i will share the joy that i have. We are in the process of purchasing a house being on of the following multicultural fraternities to have one, in THREE YEARS I may add. So i want to let all the greeks out there know that if you put your mind to it, it shall happen if you have faith and believe in yourself i shall come to pass. So i'm please to announce that we will be owning our own house on campus being establish only for three years

P.S How on earth did you do it???

Kevin 11-08-2003 10:51 AM

Impressive, how did you raise the money to buy your own house after such a short time?

WCUgirl 11-08-2003 12:19 PM

Way to go! :D

I'm always so jealous of chapters who have houses....when I was in college we had sorority halls in the dorms because our school didn't allow us to have sorority houses. It was something to do with a county law, or something like that - they were considered "brothels." How silly!

In correct. This myth has been debunked here on GC. It probabaly has more to do with zoning rule.

No, actually, she's right. I'm near George Mason Univ. in Fairfax, VA (which has an AXiD chapter) and that's the case. It comes up every year around local voting time as an example of a flagrantly ridiculous law that should be repealed and is a waste of taxpayer money.

Of course it's probably not completely ridiculous... crazy AXiDs ;)

Yeah, you know us alpha xi's...we're such immoral people, we ruined it for everyone! ;)

Actually, it is true...it's like a county law or something. I know it's not a state-wide law because some NC campuses allow their sororities to have houses, where others don't. I don't know how zoning would have anything to do with it, as there are frat houses there, and a few of them are very far away from campus...so I don't know why frats would be allowed to have houses x amount of feet/miles/whatever away from campus, but sororities can't.

It may not be a county law, but it could be a city law, and I know that's the reason. A lot of Southern cities have "anti-brothel" laws. There are also lots of crazy laws banning all kinds of weird things....but I digress, the whole intent of my original post was to congratulate D.0.7 about their new house!

Congratulations!!!

Good Stuff!

Greetings!

That sounds like an amazing achievement indeed!

....and nailing down a Chapter House in such a short time: Phenomenal!

It would be very interesting to hear how you accomplished it all!

Congrats!

are we gonna talk more about the crazy AXiDs?

D.0.7 04-14-2006 10:36 PM

i do apologize

well i forgot that i posted this accomplishmet of my fraternity. Well we were only at the time 3 yrs into our fraternity, and what we did was fund raise like hell, and members paying there dues on time, and event he had were making money. With our savings account making money, and donations from alumni being taht we did not have many me and others made the sacrifice to do it. So it was a house that became open around out campus, and we talk to our president to see were they intrested in the house, and they stated not at that time. So me and 3 of the founding fathers at the time are alumni of the fraternity, and we decided that we would purchase the house from the owner, and we did. So we own our house and the school does not own it for us. So the fundraising money went towards the stove, frigd, and the school gave us beds, and desk that they were going to throw away because they were getting new items for the dorms.
