Oddest service project?

What's the oddest service project you've done?

We used to make safe sex packets for sex workers, on behalf of an organization called "Helping Individual Prostitutes Survive." We used to fill brown paper bags with condoms, lubricant, and fact sheets about STD's as well as safety in the streets.

The mission of HIPS was to ULTIMATELY get sex workers off of the streets through counseling, but in the meanwhile, they had to keep the women safe and disease free.

Even more odd because this was at a Catholic school.

One of our pledges came up with the "brilliant" idea of picking up garbage in the park. Not with the nice vests and pick-up-sticks like Adopt a Highway - just going in the park with their bare hands, after dark if I remember correctly. The whole pledge class almost quit over it. It was degrading, needless (the park was maintained by the borough) and they would have looked like homeless people digging for garbage. I have no problem with cleaning up public areas, but to do it this way was just gross. Thankfully they came up with a different project.

Which Catholic school? I'm guessing Georgetown or CUA since HIPS is DC based, but not sure...
