Cavities/Fillings

OK, random question: How many of you have NO fillings?

My husband went to the dentist yesterday and came home upset that some of his fillings had to be redone. :( He's suggested that I visit this dentist because "some of your fillings might need to be redone too." When I told him I had no fillings, he was incredulous! "How did you get through your entire childhood with no cavities??"

Is it really that unusual to be an adult with no fillings?

aephi alum, I don't have fillings either but I understand that people with perfect choppers like us are pretty rare :D

Also, I never needed braces, and I never had to have my wisdom teeth removed because I never GREW any (my husband says that's freakish; I prefer to think of myself as exceptionally evolved)

I too have no cavities/fillings. My mom was a dental hygienist (well, still is, but doesn't do that anymore) so when I was little I had sealants galore and had my teeth inspected every single night to make sure I brushed and flossed well enough. I thought it was a pain in the ass then but now it's awesome to be able to laugh at all my friends who always need fillings. The worst dental work I ever had was getting a tooth filed down. I'm esp. grateful for it since in a few years I will be in grad school with crappy insurance, so that's one less thing I'll have to worry about!

 I hate you all!

My husband doesn't have any fillings...and he isn't the best and cleaning his teeth. He is just lucky.

I on the other hand have 2 and a tooth that broke that is capped.

I was about 30 years old before I had any fillings. And, my dentist told me he filled the tooth because I had a whole and it wasn't because I had a cavity.

I don't know if he was trying to spare my feelings or not. My dad has no fillings.

Wonder if it's genetic?

Supposedly there was flouride in the water I drank when I was young but I thought all water had flouride in it.

Had all four wisdom teeth taken out though.

I hate you all.

I have 10 fillings, 2 root canals, both of which need crowns, three more wisdom teeth to be pulled, and one more filling to go.

Weak teeth suck.

No fillings or need for braces. I have not have any wisdom teeth either... LOL! My mom has perfect teeth, so it may indeed be genetic.

Okay, I have about 7 dentists in my immediate and extended family. Some people just get lucky or have some genetic edge that gives them no cavities, or, if you had sealants galore as a child, this will help too.

I've never had fillings.

I did wear braces.

I think it's all in your genetics. I come from a family with very strong gums and teeth. My parents have only a few fillings and sister has never had cavities.

Mr. ZTAngel brushes and flosses twice daily and he's had like 10 cavities. He also had to have a root canal last year (he's 23!). His whole family is the same way.

I had many fillings in my baby teeth, but none in my adult teeth, which my parents had sealed. I also never needed braces. My dental oddity is that I only have 3 wisdom teeth since the one on my lower left never developed.

I have the same thing :) 3 wisdom teeth :)

I'm 24 and never had a cavity/fillings.

I did however have two wisdom teeth pulled(they cut through on my right side) and had the two on the left cut out.................horrific experience......but five friends took care of me so it was all good :) PLUS i lost 4 pounds out of that ordeal too :)

It's good to know I'm normal! ;)

I don't think it's genetic - both my parents have fillings and crowns.

I never needed braces either, but I did have to have all 4 wisdom teeth extracted... that was no fun. :(

AUDeltaGam 10-16-2003 05:04 PM

No cavities or fillings because I had sealers put on my teeth when they were adult teeth :D But I did have 4 wisdom teeth removed :(
