Getting a Big

Hello to all my beautiful Delta Zeta Sisters!
I have a question, and i was wondering if any of you could help me out. It's almost time for big/lil selection in my chapter and i'm a little nervous. I'm a sophmore, but i'm the age of a college junior, do you think I should try to make sure my big is a senior and therefore older than i am?
Would any of you share stories of how you picked/knew your big was right for you, or how the process worked out in your situation? I thought this would help calm my nerves and give some insight, plus i bet these are fun stories, and a great way to get to know each other!
Love, Jess

My Big is actually younger than me. :p However, she'd joined DZ as a freshman and I didn't join til I was a sophomore, so it sort of seemed like she was older, at least in "DZ years." She was the active I got to know the best when I pledged, so naturally I wanted her as my Big. We were both first on each others' lists. :D

my big is my best friend, she has been forever now, since before my sorority days.

I love her to death and knew she was the only one i wanted as a big--and i am the only little she ever took ;)

although i do have a grand little now who is older then one of my littles (i have 2)

Go with your gut on this one...it is the only way you will be happy!

"little" Big or a "big" Big?

When it came time for me to choose my Big Sister, I choose the sister that I had become closest to during the pledging process. That, in my opinion, is the best way to choose the Big that's right for you.

I received my (first?) Little Sister a year ago, and she is actually "older" than me by a few months. I joined in my freshman year, and she joined in her sophomore year. And that actually was the case for a lot of girls in my chapter last year: we ended up with "Little" Sisters who were actually older than us!

I don't think that age really matters when it comes down to Bigs and Littles. No matter what the age difference is, your Big will be there to listen, to guide you, to give you advice, and to just be there when you need a friend.

Thank you all for your responses, I feel so much better! I talked to some girls in chapter and some of them have older and younger bigs and littles. I'm so excited to be getting my big! I can't wait to know who it is.
Love,
Jess
