anti pumpkin day

this has nothing to do with religion, but is anyone just not interested in halloween? personally, i couldnt care less.

ZTAMich 10-12-2003 09:45 PM

I'm not too interested. I just want some chocolate and other assorted candies.

honeychile 10-12-2003 10:37 PM

I don't do Halloween, but it's for religious reasons. I do like chocolate, though. :)

I felt that way for a while in late middle school/early high school, but I am back to lovin' it now that I'm in college. It doesn't hurt that my college town is home to one of the biggest, best Halloween celebrations in the country. :D

Halloween is my favorite night of the year! I love the dressing up! It's fun....

Do my best to avoid the Halloweenies by staying away from the house on Halloween night.

Sick and tired from the over-commercialization of holiday seasons. Get your shopping done early, don't miss out! I don't mind the time off to spend with family and friends, but you'll rarely see me celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with all the over-used symbols of the season.

sigmagrrl 10-13-2003 07:25 AM

I love spooky ghost activities like Haunted Forests, Historic Ghost Walks, Spooky Storytelling, and all the yummy eats that go with it (hot apple cider, candy, DONUTS!!)....I am not into the dressing up part as much, but it's fun to do....I think there is an apathetic stage between childhood and adulthood where it's not "cool" to like Halloween or you've just outgrown it. But I like it again...

Did anyone else do in school trick-or-treating as a kid? When I was in first grade, we trick-or-treated to the upper grades and all the kids and teachers gave us candy! It was fun!!

Remember the cool, plastic costumes? They came with a mask on a rubber band you put over your face (it had eye holes and a little slit for your tongue that I still don't know what was used for), then you slipped into the plastic, one-piece jumpsuit costume?!?! I had She-Ra, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl!!LOL

I still love Halloween-it's my second favorite holiday, after Thanksgiving (Christmas, I'm afraid has gotten way to commercial for me, and it just makes me sick).

I take my kids trick-or-treating on our street, then we go to Greek Circle--they do Operation Safe Treat every year & we go from lodge to lodge w/thousands of sorority/fraternity members handing out candy. Some of the groups team up & put on spook houses in their lodges which is also alot of fun. After that, we head to the Tech dorms-they also do Safe Treat & the kids can trick-or-treat in the warmth of a very festive in-door environment.

We used to go trick-or-treating in the country club section of town when I was an undergrad...they never got upset when they saw 6 grown people with costumes & bags asking for candy (and the country club people? They give out nothing but chocolate!).

I'm not anti-Halloween, like I am anti-Valentines Day.

Halloween is just not as fun as it used to be. The only thing I like is the candy.

Senusret I 10-13-2003 11:20 AM

I'm not anti-halloween, but i did outgrow it.

At my school, I am pretty sure college students used to dress up and go trick-or-treating on embassy row.

MeLikey 10-13-2003 05:50 PM

Yeah I outgrew it too. As a kid, I was always really picky about my candy anyway... after coming home from trick-or-treating, I'd trade out all the non-chocolate with my sister. Now it's like what am I going to do for a costume? I usually throw something together at the last minute because I can't think of anything. I mean really, when I went to a Sigma Nu party I couldn't think of anything so I came as a "sexy teacher." Pretty lame-- came with my hair tied back, glasses, a low cut blouse, and a tight-ish tweed skirt. But it was nice when the brothers who are my friends were like, whoa I wish I had a teacher like you!

I know that one all too well :( Even when i'm not single, i tend to end up with a loser that doenst like to celebrate it so we do nothing and I end up either at home alone, or out with a buddy who had no date either.

I like halloween though. I like dressing up for parties :)
