The greatest issue in American racism is not separation of the races; in this melting pot we call America, it is actually the sexuality of the races. The notion, the irrational fear, that the black man is some brainless sex fiend fixated on white women, has fueled the hate groups.

Is it a by accident, or coincidence, that the view is still propagated by the media? YAAAMS thinks not. The truth of the matter is that 90 percent of African-American married NBA players (such as Pat Ewing, Tim Hardaway, and Mitch Richmond) are married to African-American women. But most people believe that the majority of African-American NBA players are married to non-African-Americans. Why? Because the media highlights and shows the African-American player's wife who is not African-American five times more than showing the African-American wife. This biased or selective coverage gives people the false impression.

Now that's very interesting I thought it was more like 50 - 60% were married to white women.

As a human I am like do what you want, cause your not paying my bills, but I really DO NOT feel this need to marry outside your race when there are SO MANY talented, intelligent, beautiful, and worthy sistas. Come on, brothas, but I am glad to see that so many are not. I didn't know David Robinson was on "the list". I have to call my momma.....:rolleyes:

Interesting . . . . The players who had wives of another ethnicity were all in the Western Conference. Coincidence or is that more acceptable in that part of the country? The world may never know.

Good point. I am sure that it just happen to be a coincidence here, but as a native of Northern California it is FAR MORE likely and "acceptable" to have a non-black wife. Sometimes when I go home, and this is the honest truth I can go days without seeing a brotha with a sista. In fact I joke with my mom about how surprised I am when I do see them together.

You can also say that about Southern California, particularly where I live during the week and my home city. San Diego, a heavy military town, also has quite a bit of IR relationships/marriages, which I find curious because SD is also a conservative GOP city.

My Northern California city is the interracial marriage capital of the California (maybe of the US, I'm not sure). For real, it's listed somewhere (Steeltrap, any clues?) that we have the most interracial marriages in the country. It's not a huge city, so this statistic was surprising when I first heard it. When I actually began to look around I found that it's pretty evident, especially in our growing suburban areas, that's it's true. Yes, I think the West Coast probably does have a different attitude about interracial dating, in general. Anyway, AA women dating Other Than AA men is becoming pretty prevalent in my area so it goes both ways which is, well, fair.

Co-Sign on the above comments. It very common to find interracial couples in Cali, especiallt LA. It was a big adjustment to come back here after living in Atlanta for 4 yrs.
