Happy Thanksgiving
To all my fellow Canadian GCers...
Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a great long weekend!!! |
Since I love to learn new things, can someone tell me what Canadian Thanksgiving is all about?? What are some of the traditions???
|
Due to the fact that my husband is Canadian and I am American, we celebrate both
Thankgiving is held the 2nd Monday in October. Pretty much the end of the harvest. We have the big old dinner and everything! Same as the US one. Except they don't have the 2 football games and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade! :D |
Is it the same menu and everything???
**Sigmagrrl heads off to look up Canadian Thanksgiving online** |

Happy Thanksgiving To All Of OUR Canadian Brothers and Sisters North of Us!

as opposed to our Canadian brothers and sisters south of us ;)
hehe, i'm just joking with you!! I wish I was canadian or that this weekend was Thanksgiving for us Americans... mmm turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, corn, rolls.. i'm getting hungry! |
Sorry, slight hijack...
I think I'm from one of the only families that never served mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving! I cannot imagine adding that to the menu! /hijack over! |
We don't have mashed potatoes with our dinner. We don't have yams either (and certainly not with marshmellows...no offense but what's that about?)
Our traditional dinner usually includes: Turkey Roast Potatoes Carrots Green Beans Cauliflower Broccoli Brussle Sprouts (most times all my mum is the only one who eats them) Cranberry Sauce Gravy Stuffing And a Finnish dish (which I can't spell...so I won't try). It's basically a carrot and turnip caserole...trust me it excellent. For dessert we usually have: Pumpkin Pie and another tradition Finnish dish (again can't spell it), but it's basically a Cranberry mousse. It contains Semolina, cranberries, sugar and milk and it's all whipped up and served with whipped cream. Yummm! |

That sounds like a wonderful feast. Happy Thanksgiving, neighbors. |
LOL - I thought you meant Sukkoth or the Feast of Tabernacles!
Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends AND our Jewish friends! |
