I am soooooo depressed
Well as you all know, earlier this week I had finals.
I just went to look at one of my grades and disovered I made a C in the class. I was devistated. I just knew I was doing well enough in the class to make an A or B, especially when I knew there would be a humungus curve because it was a graduate level course. When I went to talk to the professor about the final, I noticed that I had marked my answers backward on the answer sheet, at least the answers that involved b's or d's (a symptom of staying up for 24hrs the day before to cram). That made me lose about 20% of the points, not to mention the ones I really did get wrong. So, when the professor tabulated my grade including the final, my grade went from an 81(B) to a 76.5. Even though he was looking at the mistakes I made and agreed that I had the correct answers circled on my test paper, he said he could only give me points for those that I marked right on the scan sheet, and that a 76.5 was too far off the mark to try to curve. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif Could it be that I'm the only little chocolate child in the class? Hmmmmm...... The worst part about it is, I was taking this graduate level course just to be exempt from it when I apply for the graduate program next year, but because I made a C, which is unacceptable in graduate school, I probably won't be eligable for the program. This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I have been thrown off course and I don't know what to do. Thanks for listening you guys. |
Serenity_24,
I have not been in that position before, I can only imagine how you feel. My finals were this week and it was a horrible. I don't think getting a "C" in one class is going to prohibit you from getting into the graduate program. If that were the case, the program probably wouldn't exist due to the lack of students to support the need. I know what it's like to work hard for something and to be unjustly rewarded. Have you spoken to the head of the Department or the Dean of the school? You can email me if you want to. I'm pretty good at working with academic bureaucrats. Take care...the Lord has a plan for you. [This message has been edited by Talaxe (edited December 15, 2000).] |
I understand how terribly you must feel. Just pray, and know that there is a reason behind everything that happens.

Hey girl, I totally know how you feel! I've been in similar situations and worse ones http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif Just know that this is not the end of the world and that everything will turn out for the best in the end. Have you ever had a terrible experience, and you question why it happened to you but then in the end it leads to something good that you would've never imagined happening? This has happened to me plenty of times and I'm sure that you'll be just fine! Just remember to keep your head up and know that God loves you and he has his plan for you!
Hugs and prayers to you, Sweetsista http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif PS. Email me after tomorrow (Monday) and let me know how the plan worked!! |
I appreciate the support from each and every one of you. This has been a hard pill to swallow, and I am doing all that I can do to rectify the problem (trust me).
I'll talk to you guys later and keep you posted. Thanks again. |
