Slim Fast

Thinking about trying Slim Fast, I'm only looking to lose about 10 pounds. Good/bad experiences? Thanks!

I like their regular milk chocolate and strawberry shakes. They are best when very cold. I prefer their granola meal on the go bars too especially mixed berry.

High in sugar, low in protein.

You don't have to go Atkins or anything, but you're better off just modifying your daily diet to something that is healthier and easier to maintain. You can't maintain weight loss on slim fast- you will likely gain that weight back the minute you start to eat normally again, and most likely gain more than you lost in the first place.

Eat smaller portions. Eat more veggies. Exercise/Move more.

I like the orange/pineapple and the strawberry, I don't care for the choc. ones. As vanda said they need to be VERY VERY COLD.

If you can do it it does work, but make sure to eat something for dinner that fills you or it will be terrible. One year before homecoming I had nothing but Slim-Fast & salads for a week, and I lost weight, but I was also a total bitch.

I suggest wieght watchers. It's a great program, doesn't cost much, and you'll actually see results. All you're doing is changing your diet and adding in some excersize - which can including walking your dog (if you have one or just walking).

My mother did Slimfast once and succeeded only in making herself very sick...

If you only have 10 lbs to lose, like lovelyivy said, you probably don't have to make any drastic changes to your diet (like Slimfast). Get out and exercise, eat sensibly, avoid simple sugars, drink your water, and more likely than not, that will do the trick.

(says the girl on the Atkins diet :p )

And don't forget your veggies! :)

i like to drink their shakes...but that is after i throw down a #1 supersized with 2 extra mcchickens from mcdonalds.

they are nice when they are cold.

If you look at the calorie content, its about 220 calories per shake.

You can have a sandwich for lunch that's about that many calories. And you feel like you've eaten a lot more.

Why do they make the cans so damn heavy? It makes me angry when the shake is gone and the can feels like it has more in it.

That used to just piss me off. Just when it's getting really good - oops, all gone!

Now that I'm regularly exercising again, I have to watch what I eat. Atkins makes low-carb mixes for things like bread, pancakes, muffins, etc. among other things. I'll have to go to GNC and check them out. I think my best bet is to start eating low-carb breads, since I don't wanna give it up all together. I could deal with food moderation better that way. :)

Only buy those things on SALE SALE SALE

GNC is probably not the best place to buy them, but I never buy those so I can't help. Time to google, lol.

Girl, I checked out the prices - can we say purchase during the first week of the month to get the 20% discount???? Of course, you would need their Gold Card to partake in such perks.

I guess it is time to google, lol. :)

GNC

Watch for the expiration dates. I have bought several things from GNC only to find out they expire in about two weeks if they hadn't already expired. IF it was just one GNC I wouldn't have made such a fuss, but it happened at three different stores.

We used to sell some at the Coffee Shop. I enjoy drinking the Milk Chocolate Shake. Good Stuff.

My mom lost about 75 lbs on Weight Watchers, and she's kept it off for 2 years. It's a fantastic program because it teaches you how you should eat for the rest of your life, not just until you lose the weight (if you're open minded and willing to change permanently). And yes, it can work if you're only trying to lose 10 lbs, too...my friend did it to lose 10-15 lbs and she looks great!

Everyone I know who has used Slim Fast gains the weight back right after they stop using it, so it's really not even worth it.
