My little Ebay Revenge

Ebay Listing

Scroll all the way to the bottom where I inform this idiot who had this pin listed as "Sigma Delta" (where in the world did he get that), that it is actually a Sigma Kappa pin...

(Okay, so I misspelled "sell", give me a break)

I still can't believe he actually posted me email.... LOL

moe.ron 10-09-2003 09:49 AM

You should've let it be. That way people won't be able to find it. By him correcting it, now people are finding the badge easier.

texas*princess 10-09-2003 09:51 AM

hehehe

that's hilarious.. and sooooo true. seriously, if you are going to sell stuff, at least have the decency to find out what it really is

on the other hand, moe.ron has a point. He probably wouldn't have made much money (if any) if you didn't correct him.

AlphaFrog 10-09-2003 09:52 AM

Possibly, but alot of pin collectors don't care what you call it...and they just search for "fraternity pins"....they don't really care whether the seller has any clue what they're talking about...

Tom Earp 10-09-2003 09:52 AM

moe.ron, is right for that fact!

Has been LXA on, listed totally wrong. Sometimes can get better deals that way!:)

Personally, I don't see much point in spending any time or effort trying to stop these ebay auctions. Remember, to normal folks, your badge is just a nice looking configuration of precious metals and stones. It's just a pretty trinket to them that they're willing to spend a good deal of money to aquire.

What is sacred about the badge? The badge itself, or what it represents? It is a symbol, not the body and blood of Christ.

Heck.. If anything, it's a compliment that folks think your badge looks good enough to spend money to aquire it.

texas*princess 10-09-2003 09:53 AM

idea!

From now on let's email sellers and give them the wrong organizational names and maybe they will stop selling b/c they aren't making money! :):p ;)

aephi alum 10-09-2003 09:53 AM

Don't sweat it. Maybe the fact that you corrected the seller, will make it easier for a Sigma Kappa to find it and snap it up.

Honestly, how could you mistake a Kappa for a Delta?

Pretty pin, btw. Hope a SK gets it.

Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing. But this seller probably just looked at the badge, saw it was in the shape of a triangle, and thinking he was a smart guy was like "oh yeah that must be a Delta, oh and the Sigma must definitly be an Epsilon. He originally had it as DKE.
The guy is probably not really a pin collector. Just some joe schmoe out to make a quick buck.

Whoah.. your organizations spend $$ aquiring these things off of Ebay?

I can think of 12394891284 better uses for my donations/dues.

CatStarESP4 10-09-2003 10:39 AM

I don't understand how anyone could confuse a Delta with a Kappa. Oh well, if someone could confuse a Theta with a Phi (some guy who saw my letters and thought a Phi was a Theta), I believe there are some people out there who have the IQ of a garden slug! AlphaFrog, that was hilarious though!!!!

Our organization doesn't, our Badge Task Force ponies up our own money for it. Nothing is taken out of Gamma Phi Beta dues. I believe Keepers of the Key functions in a similiar manner.

We have a program like that; I believe it's discussed on our national website. The maximum National will reimburse us is only $50 though and it's rare to see an eBay badge go for less than that.

And that SK badge is beautiful!

I follow some of the badge sales and I honestly think some of the sellers don't know or don't care to know the greek alphabet. Like some one said, (most) people search for 'fraternity pins' and probably not for one particular GLO.

33girl 10-09-2003 04:28 PM

OT but I didn't realize SK used rubies...I thought they used some sort of purple jewel. ;)
