Davis Recalled, Arnold Wins Election
 

Gray Davis has been recalled as the Governor of the State of California and has given his concession speech to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Arnold has won the election by a landslide, and will take office when the election is officially certified, possibly in 28 days.

Current Election results (46% of precints reporting):
YES on Recall: 55%
NO on Recall: 45%

On the field of candidates to replace him:
Schwarzenegger (R): 49%
Bustamante (D): 31%
McClintock (R): 13%
Camejo (G): 2%
Huffington (I): 1%
All others: Less than 1%
IN NINTH PLACE: GARY COLEMAN

On Proposition 54, Racial Privacy Initiative:
YES 43%
NO 56%

On Proposition 53, earmarking 3% of budget to fix state's roads, bridges, and sewage plants:
YES 35%
NO 65%

sorry... tho i can't say much cuz i didn't vote. but still... someone is gonna find reason to recall this election and this is gonna go on forever and ever.

In his concession speech, Davis responded to calls of "Recall Arnold" with this (not expressly quoted): This is what the whole circus was about, remember? No recall. Lets put this circus behind us and get this state back on track. I will offer my full support to the transition of office to Schwarzenegger.

If we learned anything from the craziness of 2000, you'd think we would have learned that no election is over with only 33% of the precincts reporting.

33% is an awfully large number. You can predict winners with 3% reporting if it is not a close race, and this obviously is not a close race in either department.

Yup. The margins in those elections were never more than a few thousand. In these cases it's hundreds of thousands.

At least we have peace of mind knowing that Arnie could never be President of the United States!

Dee Snyder is a republican. I just find that odd.

I guess he and Alice Cooper have a private club of socially conservative shock-rockers.

I was thinking the same thing about the Presidency.

Unless they put out an amendment to the Constitution... there's a bill in Congress calling for an amendment to allow foreign-born US citizens to be eligible for the presidency if they have lived in the US at least 20 years.
