Trading Spaces $100 Grand

Anyone watch it? What did you think?

I want something modern and sleek in my future home so I really liked Doug's recreation in the kitchen and the kitchen table was awesome. Laurie's room... was well... Laurie. Is it just me or does she always use yellow in her rooms? Although Ty did a job on that CD rack and cocktail table.

doug did an amazing job. for the first time, he had a plan. he also let ty alone to do a good job.
laurie is laurie and yellow, no matter what you call it, is still yellow.
entertaining view.

I was sooo excited for this show to finally air!
I loved Doug's room. By far the best room I have ever seen him do. It was painful to watch him cover the beautiful tile floor but I don't think the original floor would have gone with his design.
Laurie's room on the other hand well it was deffinately her. I thought it was too cluttered and had just too much going on. The entertainment center/wall thingy that Ty built though was amazing. It just didn't seem to match the rest of the room though. It was too contemporary.
What do you think the home owners thought? I don't think they liked Laurie's room that much based on their response.

I loved Laurie's room. It was a bit cluttered, but I loved the colors and fabrics.
I wish Sony would donate some stuff to me!

I only saw the first half.... (had to get my Alias fix)...

Doug covered that floor? The floor the homeowners EXPLICITLY said "do whatever you want, but don't touch our VERY expensive floor" about? OOH, I would have been pissed.

Did they end up staining that mahogany table black after all? How did it look?

i LOVED the show!!!

laurie's room was exactly what i would want. for the first time i actually loved doug's room--except for the gray curtains that were all over the floor. i felt like they should have been shortened.

as for the tiles--the homeowners said they didn't want them covered before they found out they were getting $50000. so while they were probably expensive for them, the wood floor was much nicer and probably way more expensive. i'm sure they didn't mind after finding out the new budget! for $1000 they wouldn't have been able to put anything half as nice as they could with $50000.

man i wish they could do my house!

Good point... I hadn't taken that into consideration. Still... I've seen them (the designers) do that TOOOOO many times... it would make me kind of afraid to have them do my house!

I think Vern should have gotten to do the $100,000 show. He probably would have managed to build a whole new room and decorate it beautifully within the 2 days and still have enough money left over to send the homeowners on a Zen retreat in the mountains.

I liked Laurie's room, but I like yellow and warmth and a little bit of clutter. (To me, clutter = comfortable and homey. That's why I loooove Frank! :)) Doug's room was nice, but it was too cold-looking.

I also flipped between Alias and TS last night. ;)

OH I loved this episode!

For the first time, I actually liked Doug's work. Those homeowers got three rooms that were very well done. I liked how Doug purchased all new appliances and used his money wisely.

Laurie, on the other hand, purchased a $2,500 antique chair that looked pretty, but isn't practical to sit in. Also, she spent $100 something a yard on those horrible curtains. Her room was nice, but I hate the fact that she spent so much money on fabric and furniture for a family room. That family had young children, and you know the children are going to ruin it. However, the mantle that Ty built was incredible. And so was the coffee table.

I really enjoyed this show and I liked how Sony donated so much to the show. I especially liked when Paige was with the "red" lady homeowner in the limo and she started to cry because she was so grateful for all of this happening. I can't wait to watch the encore presentation to see if I missed anything the first time.

:p

I actually liked Doug's room for, like, the first time ever... except that thing on the wall with the different colours. What was that anyway??

Laurie's room looked like it was going to be great at first, but she totally over-cluttered it with knicknacks. She *always* does her room in "fall" colours... she needs a new plan.

The floors in both places were absolutely gorgeous though, and they're so lucky that they got all that free stuff!!
I still think Vern should have been there though...

We recorded it and watched it last night. I am definately addicted to TS but was very concerned when I saw Doug was one of the Designers. A Lot of times he does the opposite of what the homeowners want. I was very impressed with finish of his rooms. He spent his money much better than Laurie with her, very expensive furniture and $100 lamp shades. I loved the Table in Doug's room...It was beautiful

Oh, how I wished that Vern was given the opportunity to be on the $100 grand show. Did you see him on Oprah's show on Monday? I love Vern!!

I must say that Doug did a fantastic job remodeling the kitchen. It's probably the best thing he's ever done on that show. When it comes to redecorating, both he and Hildy scare me. I still like Lori over Doug though.

That's us, too. Ms. MysticCat and I are absolutely addicted, which is not a bad thing, I guess -- we're finally spurred on to do some decorating around our own house.

Yes, Laurie always does yellows, reds, and oranges, with perhaps some yellowish greens (and infamous browns) thrown in. (But then, most of the designers seem to have a core of colors they gravitate to.) And she has a thing for fabric like nothing I've ever seen. We liked everything in her room except for the two vases on the mantel. They were too big for the space -- but the mantle itself was incredible. Yes, her rooms tend to be, shall we say, "full," but they also are comfortable and homey. (Hey, Ms. MysticCat is always going to stick up for Laurie, her Kappa sister.)

Doug's kitchen was great, but neither of us liked the rest of the room at all. Too cold and dark. (And why does he always want to paint the ceilings? It just makes everything seem closed in and darker.) I hated the TV over the fire place -- too much the center of attention, too high, and few if any of the chairs were positioned to make watching it comfortable. The wainscotting was nice, though.

What I really want are Ty's and Amy Wynn's tool collection. (And I guess what I really need is a life.)

I loved this episode...but seeing Vern on the show would have been amazing. Laurie's room wasn't all that different than every other room she did - it just had nicer stuff. I really liked Doug's, minus his puddly curtains.
