Concession
Given the recent developments and the continued election fatigue of most Americans, do you think that Gore should/will concede?
|
HE SHOULD!
|
Gore really should be a humble competitor instead of a sore loser. It's time to concede . But this whole thing in Florida leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

You guys should visit the A phi A board, the same topic is going on there. "State of the Nation". There you will find a range of opions. I found it to be rather intriguing and enlightening.
But to answer the question, I feel Gore is well within his rights to continue to fight for a recount. There were too many "irregularities" to call this election fair, or much less, Democratic. To chime in with my Aunt on this one: Somebody's going to jail behind this mess. LOL http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
I AM SICK OF THE WHOLE MESS! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH...JUST GET ON WITH THE STATE OF AFFAIRS!
SOMEONE SAID THAT SOMEONE IS GONNA GET SHOT OVER THIS... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif |
He should, but he won't.

While I am a little exhausted of the situation, I do not think that Gore should concede......he is well within his rights to contest the election and that's what he's doing. If you give up fighting for something you know is right because people get tired, what kind of person would that make you? And more importantly, how can we tell young people that it's important to vote because every vote counts, when in actuality we aren't even sure if they do. As someone who was born in Florida and goes to school in this state, I want to see what's right prevail. And as someone that helped work in the field on Election Day, I know firsthand that questionable things were going on and someone has to be held accountable.
|
I agree that this whole topic has been exhausted beyond belief but the injustices that took place in Florida should be dealt with. I agree with Original Ape, I know that I would be highly upset if I went out to vote for maybe the first time and my vote wasn't counted for some idiotic reason or another. I would be mad and want this not to become the precedent for future elections. Gore along with the democrats in Florida have been shafted and they should have thier day in court.

I have to agree with all of the above post, but at the same time at what point do you retreat, regroup, and plan the fight on another battlefield.
I don't think that there is anyone in America, even the Republicans, who thinks that George Bush won this election. We all know that this election was stolen, and that grave injustices were done with denying people their rights to vote. I am saddended by this, and I know that we will fight to make sure that it doesn't happen next time, but right now, there is little that Gore can do to win this election. You can't keep banging your head against a brick wall. Use your brains, go somewhere, get a buldozer and knock the d*&n thing over. The only thing that I have a problem with is that we should be in protest against the injustices of people voting, not neccessarily for Gore. While I did vote for Gore, I have no great love for him, and I still don't know why black folks don't hold Democrats feet to the fire more than we do.The only reason that I vote, is becuase folks died so that I could. Al Gore was the lesser of two evils, although I do think that he would have done a pretty good job. Now we are faced with having an idiot for a President, and we are already the laughing stock of the world. When we send this fool over seas to represent us, we had better be ready for the laughs. It is time for Al to go into that sweet night. He will not go quitely, but he could at least go now, with a some dignity left. He fought the good fight, and came up short. Just my take on it. MN |

To be honest, the judges are the main ones holding things up. They are counting on complacent americans to do just what they are doing; get tierd of the situation and encourage Gore to give up. It's just like what parents do with children: keep them up all day long , until they are exausted, so that they can put them to bed and get a full nights sleep. |
CONCEDE MAN! DO IT FOR THE COUNTRY. HE COULD HAVE RAN AGAIN IN 4 YEARS, AND HAD A GOOD CHANCE OF BEING ELECTED. NOW HE'S RUINING HIS CHANCES.

ALTHOUGH I LOVE AL GORE http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I VOTED FOR HIM OF COURSE!! YES HE SHOULD CONCEDE. TRUTH IS THE VOTES THAT WERE LOST IN PALM BEACH COUNTY WILL NOT BE COUNTED. THEY HAVE PRETTY MUCH CEASED THE RECOUNTS...... SO ON AND SO FORTH. SEE THE THING IS AT THIS POINT IT WOULD NOT EVEN BE GOOD FOR GORE TO WIN. TO MANY PEOPLE WOULD NOT TRUST HIM NOR RESPECT HIM, AND IF HE DID COME ABCK AND WIN ( WHICH WILL NOT HAPPEN) HE WOULD NOT HAVE A CHANCE IN HELL FOR RE-ELECTION. YES IT IS SAD THAT SOME PEOPLE VOTED AND IT WILL NOT COUNT, BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS. IF GORE DOES NOT QUIT NOW THEN HE WILL NOT HAVE A CHANCE HELL IN THE NEXT FOUR YEARS. WE WILL HAVE TO ACCEPT THE BUSH IS OUR PRESIDENT, HE IS NOT THE FIRST ONE WE HAD WE DID NOT LIKE. I MEAN COME ON WE ALL KNEW POLITICS WAS DIRTY.

I, like many others, am sick and tired of this whole situation. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif We all know that this thing had been planned from the moment Jeb Bush became governor of the state of Florida (with no political experience, I might add) that something would be going down during the election. I think that Gore should just suck it up, let 'Dubya' make a fool out of himself in the White House, and just run again in another four years.
