Er
OH MY GOD--sooooo good!!! What did everyone else think?
And for those who saw it--what was the prayer Luka was saying at the end? I know the Lords Prayer in spanish and some of it in French(gotta LOVE Catholic schools!) and I thought thats what it was, but I wasn't sure! |
i was real tired last night and knew i would fall asleep before it was over. so i taped it. i can't wait to watch.
|
It was awesome! I assume he was speaking Croatian...Lord's Prayer is a good guess.... I had chills.
Is Carter gone for the season? I hadn't read that he was leaving the show, but I guess I missed it. Do you think Abby & Luka will get back together? |
I missed it! I thought yesterday was Wednesday for some reason so I went to bed! What happened?????

This was indeed the most disturbing ER episode I've ever seen. At one point I turned the channel b/c I couldn't take what was happening to some of the people over there. :( :( I hope Carter isn't gone for the season. As far as Luka and Abby getting back together, I dunno. |
Carter will be gone for a few episodes. Noah Wyle wanted to spend time with his new baby.
|
So what happend?
|
SPOILER ALERT!!!!
Oh my god, when they were taking the people away one by one and shooting them--I had my eyes completely covered. I felt awful for the guy that was the geoligist(sp?). It was a very disturbing episode but very good. Luka and Noah Wyle ROCK. It really made you appreciate your life. |
Seriously, would someone mind possibly posting a summary of the episode? I missed it and want to know what happened!

OH it was too goood... I covered my ears at one point...
So I'll post, but help me out... Carter returns to the war to find Luka's body and bring him home because he felt responsible... He starts working with the Red Cross and going from village to village (or camp to camp) and looking for people that might know something... Welll as we are seeing him they are flashing to Luka's scenes of what is happening to him... He gets really sick after Carter leaves with Milariea (?) and they are running from the fighters but they return to their medical camp thinking that the fighters had left. But they hadn't yet, they were hiding in the trees and they erally come out of the woods (you'd have to see it). Then the next time we see Luka they have all the men on their knees with their hands behind their head and they flash to the head fighter coming out of this tent zipping up his pants and behind him one of the women that was with Luka is dragged out... leading you to think that he had just raped her. They (the fighters) start dragging these men one by one into the tent and shooting them (you don't see this you hear it). All this time Carter is getting closer to finding Luka's body.... Luka is then seen in a line of the remaining men outside being striped of their shoes and valuables. And they are kicking the man next to luka who was working with him (which I didn't understand) and then they just shoot the guy for speaking out. THis whole time Luka is sick and hurting and knows he is going to die, and Carter is getting closer to Luka's last place of being and getting closer to this woman with the red cross... Well we next see Luka praying in some language, Croation we think and it was most likely the Lord's Prayer... don't know for sure... Alll this time the men around Luka are being drug off to be shot in this tent... finally we see Luka by himself... the last one. Carter finally finds the place where all the bodies were placed (not even in the ground) just one on top of the other... and he finds the man that was beside Luka and then the man that they think is Luka but isn't.... Then we go back to Luka kneeling and praying and the fighter guy pulls the cross he is wearing out of his shirt and asks if he is a priest and the woman that was "raped" yells out that he is and that they can't kill a man of the cloth and then get this the men who were about to kill him... kneel and start to pray with him.... Then we see Carter going into a different room where the raped women were and there is Luka on the ground... sick. Next we see him being carried to an airplane asking where he is going... and Carter tells him home and Luka asked if he was coming too and Carter tells him no that he has found were he belongs (or something like that). As to Noah Wile.. he is leaving the show this year and I thought that last night was the last night... but they aren't writing him out like they did Greene... he will come back and forth... just not be a regular... he was the last of the beginning... except for Susan who left and came back... OH well, help me out if I missed anything. I just gave the basics. It scares me that I remembered all that and I was chatting with sisters online also... |
From what I am to understand, Noah Wyle is just taking time off from ER to spend time with his wife and new baby. Thus, they are leaving him in Africa. I can't imagine them getting rid of the last of the "originals." I too was disturbed by the show, but am glad to see them get back to the type of show they were so great at producing in the beginning of ER.
As for Luka, I am almost positive he was praying in his native tongue. (not sure what he was saying though..) I guess we will have to wait for the DVD set for the season to find out. I am glad that my "eye candy" isn't going anywhere. I hope they don't pair him with Abby though...I would rather see him with Dr. Corday...where they were heading at the end of last season...Much more interesting. He and Abby are not a good match... Just my $.02. |

LOVED this episode! |
I stopped watching some of it ( now I wish I hadn't) but I did come back on the last few minutes of it. My television has closed captioning and it was a croatian he was speaking.

I don't watch ER regularly, but my roommate taped this episode and I watched it with her. It was incredible.
I found it to be disturbing but also incredibly moving where Luka was saying the Lord's prayer in Croatian and they were playing that music that was also featured in the movie "PLATOON". I'm glad that they did this episode. What is going on in the Congo is terrible, and it makes you grateful for the safe & comfy-womfy lives that we have here in Canada and the USA. ------------- This is copied and pasted from "Television Without Pity": The episode weaves two time periods: The present, and the past twenty-two days of Luka's life. Carter alights in the Congo in search of answers about Luka's death. He learns from Gillian that there was a massacre at Matenda and a heap of bodies through which to be sorted. Gillian hooks them up with a Red Cross worker called Debbie -- a blonde cross between Julie Bowen from Ed and Maria Bello -- who takes them to the mass grave. There's some attempt by Gillian to turn Carter and Debbie on to each other, but it doesn't go beyond small talk, the odd meaningful look, and mutual respect. Meanwhile, we back up to the moment in which Carter left Luka, and follow Luka as he and clinic assistant Patrick try to elude the Mai Mai troops besieging the area. Luka catches a nasty case of malaria to add to his problems, coating himself in steamy man-sweat. Oooh. His posse is captured when it tries to return to Matenda, and Patrick (sniffle) and others are killed in a mass execution. Luka is spared because he is praying out loud, having conveniently rediscovered his faith, and because he is wearing a crucifix given to him by a patient's mother. The Mai Mai believe him to be a priest and pray with him instead of blowing off his hot head. As Carter, Debbie, and Gillian reach the mass grave, they find Patrick's dead body in the pile but realize Luka is not there -- his identification badge was yanked off his neck and discarded, and his cadaver is not in sight. A soldier recognizes Luka as "the priest" and points the group to him; they find a groggy and sick but still alive Luka lying in a hut somewhere. Carter sends him back to Chicago with Gillian at his side and a mysterious letter to give to Abby, while Carter stays so he can save the world a little and possibly get in Debbie's pants a lot. All in all, a surprisingly dramatically satisfying episode even if the outcome was never really in doubt. |
