"Trucker Chic"
I hope this fad is over fast.
I stepped into my A&F store the other day, which is, for me, an oasis of sanity in a mall full of places I usually give a chance but have always walked away from empty-handed like the Gap, AE, etc. I wanted jeans. Simple jeans, blue, covering my legs, etc. So I look around. It seems now, that jeans come with holes and stains AND are $30 more than the nicest jeans they have in department stores? Thanks, I'm buying jeans because the ones I'm wearing have holes in them. Why would I want jeans that come with holes already in 'em? The paint splattered on them was interesting as well. So now, to be up with the joneses, I must help a friend paint and be sure to ruin my jeans? Wonderful. Sorry, A&F, I took my business to JC Pennies where they have normal jeans.. You know.. the kind that are different shades of blue, and don't come with holes and stains? Maybe I'm just getting old? |
I'm so over trucker hats.
|
is that trucker chic or is that painter chic?
either way, it's ridiculous and a slap in the face of fashion i refuse to wear abercrombie because they sell faded items i can do that myself with washing my clothes tons why would i want to pay $50 for someone to do it for me? |
I'm glad someone brought this up. the other week I walked through Abercrombie, Hollister (I think that's the name of it) and Amer. Eagle. All the clothes looked like they had been overwashed, rolled up in a ball and left under the bed for a month. Why do they display things this way at the store??? When I actually see people wearing clothes from there, they don't look that bad.
This is just another version of stonewashed jeans - the reason those went away was because (duh) washing something with big ole stones tends to wear away the fabric and make it weaker. |
Out here in Texas, they call these so-called trucker hats 'gimmie caps', since they're such a common giveaway.
|
My roommate works at Abercrombie and informed me just the other day that pre worn jeans are going to be off the rack soon.
|
You mean, like what you can get at Goodwill or the Salvation Army for $5?
And thank you AlphaSigOU for explaining the origin of the term "gimme caps." I heard someone call them that once and I didn't understand the logic. |
what is the brand name of that new trucker look? it starts with a v.
anyway, it is taking over my school. there is this one girl in my statistics class that wears this look every freakin day. personally i think the look is getting tacky. darn these stupid trends. |

I hate this trend and I blame the Neptunes.
Pharell and those damn hats started it, and now every other metrosexual in NYC must have on this ugy style. Eww. |
Trucker hats are definitely 1.5 years ago. Tell those kids that if they want to be pretend they're trendy, to at least pick the current trend.

My best friend and I have this little dream where we break into a mall in the middle of the night, break into Abercrombie, and sew up all the rips, wash out the stains, and iron everything.
Can you imagine how confused the employees would be when they came in the next day? :D |
I can't stand trucker hats. They really are "so last year". I blame Ashton Kutcher for the trend. But you can point a finger at Pharrell too. I hate that tool.
