Concert Suicide?

Has anyone else heard about this?

Is this a new low or what?

texas*princess 09-29-2003 02:41 PM

I'm shocked :o

ztabchbum 09-29-2003 02:42 PM

I have heard TOO much about it - considering I live in St. Pete. Every news channel has been covering it for almost a week now. the news on it is starting to die down considering their show was cancelled and NO ONE in the area will book them because of legality issues. Honestly, I think it was all just a publicity stunt to get their name out there.

bethany1982 09-29-2003 03:14 PM

It has been on the news here in California too. I think it's a publicity stunt too. If it's not, the person is sick.

 this far exceeds a publicity stunt. i think the group needs to check into a mental ward:mad:

Peaches-n-Cream 09-29-2003 04:23 PM

This is just sick!

I have serious issues with this. While I totally respect their opinion that people should have the right to die (especially the terminally ill who are in great pain), I think this is not the way to go about getting "the word" out. It's reality "entertainment" gone seriously, seriouly wrong. Basically they view life and death as something for entertainment and shock value, not the greatest gift of all. It very much cheapens the concept of living and dying, and do not support this. Legislating morality and First Amendment rights aside, I think the City Council did the right thing.

this is disgusting. what is wrong with people???????

For what? Wanting to die without leaving their family six figures in medical bills and living the life of a vegetable?

Let's separate the issues here - Physician Assisted Suicide and a band trying to gain publicity.

The article did say the person was terminally ill and I think that means sick anyway.

Maybe that person doesn't want to live the rest of their life in constant suffering and pain?

OtterXO 09-29-2003 05:46 PM

ON STAGE!?!?!? That is absolutely the most vile thing I have heard in a very long time.

smiley21 09-29-2003 06:36 PM

seriously, couldn't they have just urinated on the stage or something? that would have been enough.

honeychile 09-29-2003 10:14 PM

I posted the link because, as many of you know, I'm a geriatric counselor. I've seen many people at the last stage of their lives, and yes, some do want to end their lives. I do not believe in physician-assisted suicide, as the Hippocratic oath would then be meaningless.

No matter where you stand on that issue, to make someone's death into a performance is about the most evil thing I've heard of! I thnk it smacks of the horrible Holocaust films that the Nazis made while killing the Jews & other people. The members of that band must be devoid of any souls.

For wanting to make a show of their death... That is SICK!

smiley21 09-29-2003 10:29 PM

what do the parents of the 'person' think?
