Chapter Homecoming Traditions
Bros.,
Homecoming is rapidly becoming my favorite time of year running neck and neck with Christmas and Thanksgiving. What traditions does your chapter have at Homecoming time, and what are you all planning this year? At Morgan we all meet up on the yard the Friday evening before Homecoming Saturday and it's like a Who's Who of Morgan's social past, present, and future. We usually stay on the yard til 2, 3, 4 in the morning sharing our favorite "beverages" and eating whatever the neos supply. We repaint the benches on the yard every year the week before homecoming, if they need it or not, and we also set out the "plot" on Fri evening for the first time, never a day earlier. It may sound simple, but as we get older, it's the little things that you appreciate more. What does everyone else do? (This thread is open to Sorors too...) |
While a student, we always met on the hill to go to the game together. We'd have alums to come and chit chat...
As an alum during homecoming... We'd save an area for sorors and frats at the stepshow. It doesn't ALWAYS work out. After the homecoming parade (if you can get up to go to the parade), we (UGs, former UGs, and Grad chapter) get together for brunch, then we make our way to the game. After the game, we usually go to the hill to sing the hymn. Then, we leave to eat dinner... |
:o
I KNOW we are not the only 2 with Chapter Homecoming Traditions..... CAN'T BE! :o |
homecoming?
My undergrad chapter would have a happy hour before the game at the house. Grad bruhs and their ladies, us and ours would get together eat, drink, and "get our heads right". Then we'd go to the game. We always sat at the 50-yard-line, and the AKAs would join us. Eventually it became the area concentrated by all black undergrads and grads. After the game, we usually held/sponsored the dance; although sometimes another d-nine group would do it. E'RBODY and they moma shows up at our after-party! It's here that we'd make it happen!!!;)
