Kristin's Story
The Alpha Chi's and Tri-Delt's at the University of Arizona hosted Andrea Cooper last night as she came and presented Kristin's Story and what a powerful presentation it is. All of the sororities came out to hear it, it was good to see. I was wondering if anyone else has seen Kristin's Story?
|
All the sororities here got to see it last year. Andrea had dinner at our house, too -- she is amazing.

Kristin's Story
I saw it in 2001 at Vanderbilt. VERY moving.

Can you tell the rest of us, like myself, the story? I have no idea what you're talking about and the curiosity is killing me. :D

Here's a link:
http://www.deltadeltadelta.org/about/kristinstory.htm It's about a girl (an AXO) who was date raped and suffered from depression, and ultimately ended up committing suicide. Her mother (a Tri Delt), now goes across the country speaking to Greeks about depression and acquaintance rape. The presentation is co-sponsored by AXO and Tri Delt. |
AHHH! Thanks for the link! :)
|
Yeah, Andrea had dinner at the Tri-Delt house. We (the AXO's) went too. It was a very nice, intergreek thing.

that story sounds familiar. . .i think she came to penn state either my freshman or sophomore year during greek week.
|
i saw it one year.. what an amazing presentation... i think i ended up crying through half of it.

Maybe, she should go to each Greek Orgs National Conventions, not just Womens, but Mens!
Maybe, it would really mean something to all of the Respective Memembers to take a back and and pass along to each respective Chapter:cool: |
She's done Alpha Chi's national convention. She did the west coast Panhellenic convention also. Boys are always invited. Sometimes men come out to see her, sometimes they don't. There were like 10 last night, and like 600 women. But that just makes those 10 that much better, in my eyes at least.

She came to LSU last year. It was a very moving story. I think this story could be beneficial to men as well. There were quite a few guys that came, but most were pledges and were required to go.
|
Mrs. Cooper opens all of her presentations up to men and women. Here at the U of A, the whole school was invited, and she said that depending on school to school, the ratio of men to women varies. If you ever hear of it coming to your campus, encourage the men to go as well. I told my boyfriend about it after it was over and he was diappointed that I didn't tell him earlier or he would have had his house go as well. :(

she came to richmond in 2000 and we were required to go. it was an amazingly moving story

I read about Kristin's Story while checking out the Tri-Delta website. I was in tears as I read it. It is very sad to lose a child, but more devastating when it is your only child. I admire Mrs. Cooper for speaking out on the issues of rape, depression and suicide.
My question is does she speak in schools that have chapters of Tri-Delt and/or Alpha Chi Omega there or any college/university? Just curious! |
