"For clarification I am only a sisterfriend."
I believe she is responding to the sisterfriend Belle who posted on 10/28/2000 about being rejected. From one sisterfriend to another Belle pray about it and just try again. I wish you the best of luck. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif Topic- was rejected [This message has been edited by Miss Lady (edited November 13, 2000).] |
Emerald Elegance,
your post meant a lot to me, thanks. |
Ok Sorors, I have to go with the majority on this one.......

My big sisters always told me that someone could have voted no on anyone so don't think that you are fundamentally "better" than someone else because you are an AKA but I still stand my statement that interests need to be deferent and humble, not disrespected but realize that MEMBERSHIP IS SELECTIVE so no one owes an explanation to anyone. Even if I was not selected I would not have felt like they owe me. Really, you could be rejected for whatever.
I have spoken to Belle privately, so I know she now understands, but moderators, maybe one of you should make a statement similar to the Delta room so that prospects can't say they did not know, it will be there for then to see for themselves. ------------------ Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Soror Emerald...
That was a very nice thing to say to this chick named belle. I still have to agree with my Soror lluvmook98 on this one and wonder why you would tell an interest something about your pledging experience... This young interest really has no clue about what it really means to be interested. And has harrassed me and several other sorors for no reason. Although very kind and helpful, some sorors are confused about your the intent of your statements. Just noticing... |
Sorry Belle
I know that all the sorrys in the world won't make you feel any better. I know that seeing the new line with their para and noses in the air won't feel good, and I know that all of the semi-harsh comments you have been getting can't make you feel any better, either. But just remember, all of my sorors have been where you are now: a non-AKA. I had a very humbling experience the semester after I pledged. Because I had pledged the most elite sorority in the world, you couldn't tell me that my s*** didn't stink. I had my nose so far up in the air, a jet could have landed in it. I refused to even try to get to know a girl who didn't kiss my tail. When one of my big sisters tried to get me to change my mind about one of her girls, I haughtily replied, "I don't want to get to know her". Well, I guess that kind of set off a rage in her, because she couldn't believe that someone who had once been so sweet and humble had become the worst thing imaginable. She calmly proceeded to tell me that when the chapter voted the first time, they had decided on twelve girls. I was not one of the twelve. They later decided that the number was too small, and decided to go with 26 instead, and that's when I made the cut. I said all of that to tell you that its pretty easy to sit up and wonder "Why Me?", and its easy for my sorors to sometimes say, "Well, just because". But the easiest thing to remember is that there are many AKAs who would be a little more humble if they realized, as I did, how close they ALMOST came to being shut out from the elite few.

Miss Lady,
For your clarification, we know the thread in which EmeraldElegance is responding to. We are "confused" because she could have posted this in that thread instead of creating a new one (which is encouraged), or she could have sent this e-mail to Belle privately. The latter would have shown more discretion. Soror Lluvmook98, I'm in agreement with you. As far as the sharing of sorority information goes if you or any other soror would like to use this feature, send me an e-mail with the info. you would like to see added. |
