we need pref party ideas
okay, so im sure most of you cant answer in too much detail, but its worth a shot.
we just had pref this morning and well, in my own personal opinion, we suck at pref. it's boring, and sad (way too many tear-jerker stories), and i just dont think anyone cares enough about it. it has hurt us in the past becuase we get girls all the way through and then we lost them last minute becuase of pref. does anyone have any suggestions on how to pref better?? like seriously, anything... we just need help.... like, what do some of y'all do? or know what other people do from other chapters? or just any ideas.... |
I just PM'd you.

for pref night- we turn all the lights off- and get tons of tea lights- and put them all over- outside on the steps- up all the stairways- in the hallways- and we carry long taper dinner candles (careful- the wax gets alll over) and we present them to the group-one by one- with a sister as an escort to the rest of the sorority= i present to you- miss blah blha blah- and they get a rose (our flower) and sit down- we go over our info- stone- date we formed- and then have them make a wish in our wish bowl- cheesy but cute- and we read a poem to them its called how do you want to live your dash or somthing like that- and then we turn the lights on- before they come downstairs- we keep them in one of the rooms and have them fill out their information- and then their escort leads them downstairs and the PNM encounters two people that tell why the decided to join- its really beautiful and nice to do- hope that helps at all:) i can tell you this- b/c the girls during informal/formal rush go through all the sororities pref nights- so its not so secret until they sign a bid- and then- we go and hand them their bids with flowers at their rooms

Maybe someone can prove me wrong on this, but I have always felt that the Pref party is 95% mood and 5% what is actually said.
Meaning: if you're not sincere, it will show. If the PNM hasn't realized by Pref that you want her as a sister, you will have a hard time trying to say so in any sort of ceremony. Any one agree. or am I crazy? |
