Blankets from SK Shirts

Hey Ladies of SK! I recently went alumni and I heard about a place that will take your t-shirts and sweatshirts and make blankets and quilts out of them. I was wondering if anyone has heard about that and if so do you know who I can contact to get that done. I have billions of t-shirts and sweatshirts and I dont want to get rid of them but I don't wear them like I used to...any help would be great!

I have kept several tee shirts
with the intention of making
them into a quilt. It would be
nice if someone else did it for
me, simply to save time, however
I would like to give it a go on
my own. We'll see.:)

I totally want to know where to get this done and how much it would cost. I tried to find a licensed sigkap vendor to go to, but unfortunately i couldn't even get through to the one number i found.

If anyone knows where to go, let me know. thanks!

Here's a message that was sent to my Alumnae group awhile ago. I'd e-mail her and see if she still does this.

Why not send them to me and let me create a wonderful keepsake quilt with all of those shirts. There are so many memories in those shirts, keep them to share with your children. What better way than with a comfy light weight quilt? They come in twin and queen sizes and are backed with snuggly flannel sheet. If you are interested and want pricing information please email me at unbe6@worldnet.att.net.

Quilt Pricing

Twin size**

70"x 86" 20 shirts $125.00

Queen size**

88:x105" 30 shirts $175.00

**Your t-shirts will provide a beautiful front for your quilt. For
the back you must purchase a flat sheet (I suggest a dark colored flannel one) to fit the size quilt you are having made and ship it with your t-shirts. To save on shipping cost, you may split the shirts down the sides before you send them, (leaving the sleeves on, do not cut them off) and send only the side you wish placed on the quilt.

PLEASE ADD $20.00 for shipping for each quilt.

Quilt construction

Your shirts are carefully cut into squares and sewn into whichever
size quilt you purchase. Each square is backed with a soft fusible
interfacing to maintain shape. They are sewn together using a light weight "Mountain Mist" batting and backed with a co-coordinating flat sheet of your choice. The quilts are hand tied at the corner of each shirt square to insure the batting does not shift. All quilts are machine washable (delicate cycle) and dryable on a low heat, short cycle.

I know one of my sisters made a t-shirt quilt for herself and another for her lil sis. They turned out quite beautiful. But... she is very crafty/Martha Stewart.
I need to do something with the trunk of sorority t- shirts I have been lugging around. Like shopgirl, I think I'd like to try to make one myself.

Well, I've started cutting up my shirts to have them made into a quilt. Either I will learn to do it myself or I'll find someone locally to do it. I'm excited to do this or have this done. Although, I've noticed that it's difficult to part with some of my shirts.

I'm also having trouble deciding which ones to sell on ebay and which ones to use for the quilt. I've been putting in my listing description that if they don't sell that they will be used for my quilt. If you are interested in the shirts I'm selling, look up my listings. my screename is godzgirl
