dirty rushing...
 

i have never seen it so bad...
this is the first time where it is really messing things up. houses bidding early, kegs, trash talking...
i am the ifc rush director and i hate it. all we tried to do was help the fraternities with rush. we had prerush meetings for all of ifc starting last spring. we had more prerush events this fall for the freshman...
all that happens is a cut throat mess of every house for themselves. i hate it.

Our house doesn't even though we may want to really bad... or at least share how shitty some of the other houses act. But I heard a lot did it on us.... oh well some things you can't change!

My experience tells me that you should not sink to their level.

True quality rushees, IF they get a chance to visit every house will see right through the BS. Just talk up going greek in general and show what your organization has to offer.

Way back when I rushed, I was an XYZ legacy - XYZ dirty rushed me the whole time....it just sealed the deal that I was meant to be an Alpha Gam!

I agree that you shouldn't sink to their level - its so hard and so tempting, but it will be worth it when you get quality members!


EDITED so I wouldn't call out other organizations even though those girls ended up being some of my good friends....didn't mean anything by it, just talking about rush

at my school dirty rushing is at an all time high!!
First off sorority XYZ goes around telling people sorority ABC is losing their charter.
The other 5 sororities all tell girls that ABC and XYZ take ANYONE.
Sorority JKL says sorority RST hazes, doing circle fats.
Sorority RST says sorority GHI are the snobby rich brats.
Sorority GHI says sorority DEF never does anything on campus and guys hate them.

About the only sorority I have NEVER seen involved on either side (giving or receiving) is Kappa Delta.
I know my chapter didn't dirty rush, but we were on the receiving end.

I don't think I am calling anyone out and if any KD's are upset that I said you all are the most honest chapter that I know of on campus please let me know!

Folks, let's try to keep organizations' names out of this. To say they are doing something wrong on one campus does not represent them properly on other campuses that are here.

Let's not use this thread to call individual organizations out.

Unfortunately dirty rushing occurs more than any one would like. Just make sure that you keep your organization above that and it will pay off in the end

The way I see it, dirty rushing is like peeing in the shower - everyone probably does it but no one would ever admit to it. So we can all be like "oh yea my GLO doesn't dirty rush but the other ones do!!!" but it's bull. You don't honestly know if every single one of your members has enough sense NOT to dirty rush...or someone might do it without realizing it. So...yea it's bad but don't everyone get on their high horse now. :D

I’m on IFC as well; since we never had an actual Greek row at U of H we took a different approach to rush this year. The Vice President of Recruitment met with all the rush chairs the previous semester and addressed any concerns. They developed standing rules in regards to this semesters rush. Any violation of these rules would result in a standards review consisting of all the rush chairs from respective chapters to rule on any infractions. IMO it has worked out well.

i dont think its really been that bad at all at sdsu, #'s are just down it seems like so everyone is trying a little harder
