College Student Shot, Killed In West Baltimore
Family Offers Reward For Capture, Conviction Of Suspects

BALTIMORE -- Baltimore City police are looking for suspects in the
murder of a college student Thursday night in west Baltimore.

WBAL-TV 11 News reporter Jennifer Franciotti said Wesley Carter and hisfamily are dealing with an unbearable loss. Carter's 22-year-old son --Dakarai (pictured, right) -- was shot in an alley off Virginia Avenue on Thursday night. Franciotti said he died a short time later.


Victim's Parents Make Emotional Plea For Justice


Franciotti reported that Dakarai was getting ready to start his senioryear at Virginia State University where he majoring in psychology. He was a Phi Beta Sigma, got good grades in school and was active in sports.

He's described as an easygoing young man who would never hurt anyone.
Dakari's father was proud of his son and was working two jobs to help put him through college.

Police have no suspects or motive in the killing. Dakarai's family said he was in the process of saying goodbye to friends last night, before heading back to school this weekend.

Franciotti said they believe he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and now they want justice.

"I'm praying that whoever you are you turn yourself in," said his aunt Mary Fossett. "Why did you have to take his life? It's so unfair."

"I don't want you to die like my son died in vain, but I'm coming after you," said Wesley Carter. "Please turn yourself in. It's a senseless murder."

The family is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Dakarai's murderer.
