Loans

How much will everyone pay after graduation in student loans or credit card bills due to school.

Mine will be about $5,000 :(

DZHBrown 09-16-2003 03:13 PM

20000 in undergrad and one semester of grad loans. Haven't gotten to the rest of my grad school loans yet.

Had our son gone to any of the "highly selective" schools that accepted him, the loans would have been close to $80K.

As it is, his National (Merit) Scholars and additional scholarships at Oklahoma will pay for almost everything.

And he doesn't even play football.

Mine will be just under (or just over?) $10Gs. Which is pretty good considering that tuition is $4G per term (ie $8 per year)

THANK YOU CO-OP!

jonsagara 09-16-2003 04:51 PM

$0.00 :D

Parents paid for first ~3 years, then I paid for the rest.

bafromkc 09-16-2003 05:06 PM

I have about 15k i think. got start saving to pay them back.

aephi alum 09-16-2003 05:20 PM

$0.00 :D Mainly thanks to my parents, who started saving for my college education before I was even born.

My husband faced about $18K though. Fortunately, he's been paying them off long enough that they're starting to go away. :)

swissmiss04 09-16-2003 06:13 PM

Around $15K. That includes credit card bills. Not too bad. With having 4 credit cards I still have less than 2 grand in debt.

ZTAngel 09-16-2003 06:16 PM

$0

I had Florida pre-paid which covered tuition and then I had a bunch of scholarships. So, I actually earned money by going to college. It was great because I never had to work during college (except during the summer or during winter break) since my scholarships covered books, rent, alcohol, etc.

Tom Earp 09-16-2003 06:20 PM

Oh, I feel so sorry for you all!:(

Good old days, worked in the summer and paid for school year.

Thank goodness!

Worked for the school my second year mopping and waxing dorm floors.

Credit Cards will kill you!

HUH, we Elitest, all of my Chapter Guys have part time jobs to make ends meet!

gphiangel624 09-16-2003 06:30 PM

I have about $13k to pay off for student loans and about $3k for credit cards (damn the man).

But I'm being an idiot (or maybe not), and deferring the loans a little longer by taking classes at community college until I start my graduate program....

Thank you, Uncle Sam...

CatStarESP4 09-16-2003 07:42 PM

Don't get me started with loans. I owe about $75K in total (undergrad and my brief grad school career). I wish that my parents had started saving before I was born.

I paid for all of my school myself except for the $6000 that I borrowed from the government. I think I'm down to around $4000 and hopefully I will have that paid off soon! :)

GeekyPenguin 09-16-2003 08:48 PM

I'm not telling you because it's already close to most of yours and I have another year of undergrad and at least 3 years of grad left. :(
