In-laws
Do you refer to your in-laws by their first names or mom & dad?
|
First names.... I already have a set of parents and a set of step-parents. :p
|
I try not to refer to my MIL as anything but Satan
no, just kidding, actually I call them by their first names |
I'm not married, but my dad calls my mother's parents Mom and Dad. I think it's really sweet and I want to be the same way with my in-laws.

I've always called my fiance's dad "Mr. LastName." However, we're getting married soon, and he told me recently that he'd like me to call him "Dad." I just can't -- I've already got a Dad and it doesn't feel right. So, I think I'll end up calling him "Pistabaci" which is Hungarian for "Mr. Steve." His family is originally from Hungary, and he's really big into the Hungarian culture, so this would make him happy. That or "Pistapapa" which is Hungarian for "Papa Steve."

I call my in-laws by their first names, and my husband calls my parents by their first names.
I would call my in-laws Mom and Dad if they asked me to... but they never have. *shrug* |
Pete.
I called him Mr. X at first, which was weird to me-I grew up referring to all my friend's parents as their first names. He told me a couple weeks ago to stop that, and I don't feel comfortable enough yet to call him Dad. |

The out-laws.
(they used to be my in-laws, now they're my out-laws...) The current Mr. honeychile's mother I call by either her first name (her request) or by Mrs. E - because I met her as such. He calls my mama "Dixie Lee" (her first name). |
<< bleep!! >>
|
I alternate between Mr./Mrs. lastname and Mom and Dad. It depends how close to them I'm feeling at that moment.
|
First names, or increasingly by Grandmom and Poppie (their chosen Grandparent nicknames.)
|
;)
