Question about birth control pills.... sorry guys
okay well I am on birth control pills.
Anyway, tomorrow is my last day to be on the regular pills, and friday I start my sugar pills- I normally dont get my period until monday though. Anyway- for the past couple of days I have felt like I have been on my period, depressed, cramping, and bloated. Well, I went to the bathroom just a few minutes ago, and when I wiped it was like light pink. So, I think I am going to start my period early. Is this normal, has anyone ever started their period early while being on the pill?? My last day to take active pills is tomorrow. I am a little freaked! |
How long have you been on the pill? And what type are they, estrogen only, combination prg/est? Pm me if you like:)

thumbs up for all girls on the pill :D
|
I have been on them for about 2-3 years, and it is the generic brand of alesse 28 called avianne 28- they are very low dosage.

sorry for the hijack BUT-
my mom would not let me touch birth control pills with a ten foot pole -no i think that would still be too close. anyway, she thinks it will make me become loose or something (her thoughts not mine). she knows there are other factors that make women go on the pill. but she doesnt want her 'little girl' to get in 'the world'. even if i were to try to hide them , she would still find them. |
I think this is more probable if you missed a pill, and had to make it up. This has happened to me a couple of times. But I tend to miss, and then have to make it up. (A dead give-away that I am single right now?;) )
Stress, and other things can cause this too. Unless you are in extraordinary pain or are bleeding more than normal I wouldn't worry about it. You could always call and talk to a nurse to make sure though. |

If you took the pills a little late (even a couple hours later) it will possibly cause you to bleed. Have you had diarrhea or vomiting recently? That'll affect your body's metabolism of the pills. I hope nothing's wrong, but don't freak out! :)

I'm on Aviane, and what you just described hasn't happened to me, but I can see it happening. I've been on it since August 2000, and my periods have started coming earlier and earlier. Normally, it would come on Wednesday afternoon of the placebo week...now it's like, Monday evening of the placebo week. Maybe because it's so low-dose? When I go to the doctor soon, I will probably ask to go on a higher dose, because the reason I got on the Pill (cramps) is back and in full effect, and my skin is breaking out for the first time ever. If I get to the Dr before you do, I'll throw this question by her.

I'd say it's probably no big deal if you're sure you didn't forget any days this month.
Sometimes this can happen if you aren't being perfect about taking your pills at the EXACT same time each day. If you get a regular heaviness, normal length period next week then you're almost definitely not pregnant. If you get this weird early, light stuff and then no period, then take a test in a week or so. |
bucutie,
This totally happened to me on two different types of pills (I was actually on Alesse for a while) and I finally just found one that works for me. It is most likely that your pill is too low of a dosage to regulate your body's cycle. I would call your GYN and try and get a new kind of pill, you probably won't even have to go in; they can just call in a new prescription for you. P.S. I found that this happened to me especially when I lived in the sorority house...I guess that living with 55 women can throw off your cycle too...it actually has some scientific proof...somethinf about the amount of estrogen and an "alpha female". My mom read in a book about it. |
Actually this just happened to me a few weeks ago. I started to spot only a week after my period had ended. I'm on Desogen, and I'm pretty sure it's a low dosage generic as well. My doctor told me that a number of factors can throw off the cycle. For me it was a change in diet/exercise routine. Also I've heard that stress can also throw it off in addition to missing pills, etc.
Were you spotting or did your period actually begin? This can also make a difference. Don't be freaked! If you're really worried always contact your doctor. I did, and it made me feel 10x better. :) |

well here is an update:
after that "incident" yesterday, everything has been okay. I have not been spotting or anything else. I went to the bathroom this morning in fear I was going to get my period, but everything was okay. I dont know what will happen the rest of the day, but I feel a lot better. Today is my last day to take the active pills, and if I get my period early, then I get it early. I'll let all of you know, thank you so much for your advice, I am glad I am not the only one that this happened to. |
Another question: Is it normal for your body to release tissue?
