9-11 Flags

My Phi Mu Big Sister e-mailed this to me today. With the anniversary of 9-11 tomorrow, I think we should all take a minute to remember those lost and their familes left behind.

9-11 Flags

Thank you SO MUCH for posting that link! I hope that people won't get complacent as time goes by.

I happened to write a letter to my friend in England on 9/11/2001, and luckily, I made a copy. It's an interesting read, since at the time there was so much confusion. I lived at the foot of the WTC when I did some training in NYC, and we would always take people to the Observation Deck, because you could see our tiny little deck from there. The building was condemned, and has been torn down. Too unreal.

I hope that those who pray take a moment to pray for those who lost loved ones in this tragedy. Our magazine, The Adelphean does a yearly tribute, and I so appreciate it.

This is a lil off subject, but I saw someone on campus today with "Pray for the troops" painted on their rear passenger windows and "Honk if you remember" painted on the rear window. I thought that was really great.

Hmm, I can't get it to open! What is it?

I was thinking...what if all of the Greeks on our campuses could wear our pins on September 11th in honor of those who died. I'm thinking that each of our organizations lost at least one person on 9-11, so maybe it could be a show of support for their families? Just a thought!

Thanks for posting this. My company lost someone on Sept 11, he was going on vacation with his girlfriend of 4 years to Hawaii. THey were on UA 175 - the second plane into the WTC. He was only 25.

While time may heal, it does not erase. I can't believe its been two years.

I live in Sandy, Utah, and we do this every year in front of City Hall. The pictures are amazing, but they don't do it justice. You have to be there, and see it in person to have it really hit you. It brought tears to my eyes, remembering that day. We lost Sig Ep brothers on that day. In my Sig Ep chapter, we have a tradition that whenever a brother or alumni from our chapter dies, we but a black shroud over our charter and light a candle below it, and it's a period of mourning. We did this on 9-11, even though none of the brothers who died were from our chapter. It still makes me emotional to think about it.

May I say that I think that's a lovely tradition?

We lost Alpha Delta Pi sisters that day, too. Most notably was the wife of the director of "Frasier", whose name escapes me right now.

honeychile - Is it Lynne Anglin?

We also lost sisters and sisters' family members that day. Very sad...
One of our sisters was recently in Guideposts magazine telling her story of losing her husband only a few months before having their second son.

VSUPhiMu I think that is a wonderful idea for everyone to wear their badges.
