Going National from Local

[FONT=courier new]I am transferring schools in a semester, however I am involved with a local sorority on my current campus. I was wondering what the proceedures were if i would like to go national on my new campus, and if there are any problems with it.

You would have to go through recruitment (either formal or informal) in order to join a national on your campus!

Good Luck!

My question lies in weather or not its acceptable to do so? and would there be any resentment with the new sisters?

I personally don't think there would be any resentment. Give it a shot! :)

I did the exact same thing this year when i transferred from USC to ASU. I was very involved (even on exec board) with my local chapter, Alpha Gamma Gamma. When I found out that I had to transfer I was sad to leave my sisters, and could not at all imagine life without being greek. So, after the girls' advice on GC I decided to rush. You should be able to as well. A word of advice though, it can be confusing to the new sororities at your school. Where are you transferring from? To? I know I'm glad that I rushed because now I will get to be part of a national organization and get all of the alumni enefits that will offer for me. I really encourage you to go through rush. Also, if you want to make sure the school you're at is cool with it (they should be, bu just to reassure you), you can contact the Greek office at your new school. That's what I did at ASU, and after rush (stressful!!!), I am now a Kappa Delta :)

Oh one other thing...while the new sisters are probably going to be confuse at first, it is somewhat of a benefit that you'll already know about the time commitment and effort that goes into being a member of a sorority. I'm going to try to find my old thread with this question in it!!

Here's the Link!!! b

I agree with absolutuschick....since you've already been a member of a GLO, you already have an understanding of sorority, its purpose, its time committment, etc.
I personally would think of you as an asset if you were to join my chapter.
I'm sure going through recruitment you'll be better able to see some of the differences between locals and nationals as well as getting to know the personalities of each group.

Good luck!

i don't think the nationals will have any problem but i wouldn't be surprised if the local you are leaving is a little hurt.
