How many Rho Chi's miss wearing there letters?
I can not wait until bid day because I can officially where my letters, put my license plate in my window, talk to my sisters, etc.
I miss being in my sorority, but I have had a good time representing Panhell as a whole. Formal Recruitment is next week so I have one more week to be a Rho Chi. It's been a really good experience. I think I'm going to buy myself something sorority related after formal recruitment for being so good representing Panhell. :) How has it been for you? Annice :) |
I did :(
Just before the end of spring semester, I boxed up all my sorority-related things to put away until rush was over. I didn't realize how much sorority stuff I had until I found that it filled a large box! Letters, event T-shirts, shorts, my pin, composites, favors from formals, a paddle, a keychain, a cross stitch I had done... ouch. I used to wear event T-shirts when I went jogging. Oops - gotta find something else to wear! My sorority always displays recent composites at rush. When I reaffiliated, I saw our most recent composite before they had gotten around to uncovering my picture. :( And it was tough not to cry while doing a rho chi pop-in at AEPhi's pref. |
I actually enjoyed my dis-affiliation period while I was a Rho Chi. In a Greek system as strictly tiered as Texas, it was sort of freeing to be nameless for awhile - and it was tons of fun seeing what sorority the girls in my group guessed I was.

I wanted to be a Rho Chi, but since it was my senior year, I didn't want to not wear my letters... so looking back I should have been a Rho Chi my junior year, but oh well. I love recruiting girls, so I would have missed that part a lot.

I am currently a recruitment counselor at my school. Rush is starting in a few weeks, so in a way I'm kind of glad so I can finally tell the whole world what sorority I'm in. But being excused from rush practice and chapter for about 3 weeks is priceless :) . On the other hand, being away makes me appreciate my sorority so much more in so many ways. All in all, I really like being a rc. I feel like I'm giving back and its a good feeling. :)

I only had to disaffiliate for about twenty days. I still haven't put the letters back on my car yet, but I definitely felt out of place not being an official member and being able to wear my letters!

I was a PX during my junior year. It was hard not being affiliated! I had never realized before how many Pi Phi shirts I wore! I had to buy a whole new wardrobe! LOL. At our house you can put pictures up with PX's in them as long as their faces are covered. I remember being slightly hurt because people just didn't put pictures of me up...period. Sometimes it was hard to be hidden away in the hous during tours and dinners where PNM's would be over. It was especially hard during all-campus sorority events. I was supposed to be there for Panhel. These took place before the PX's had a chance to bond, and we were cliquey for awhile. I was usually the only PX from my house there, and it was hard to see all of my friends sitting by themselves having a fun time.
BUT, it always gets better. Being a PX was a wonderful experience, and I'm still friends with a lot of PX's from other houses. It's such a wonderful way to make new friends, and you get to see recruitment from another side. I'll also never forget that feeling of running home to see my sisters and basically being attacked. I don't cry a lot, but that was definitely a moment when I cried. :) |
