Hierarchy on GC?
 

In reference to the Damasa and Decadence fight.




Recently I've noticed that there seems to be a hierarchy on GC.

This is what I see as do many others:

If certain people don't like you and/or have a conflict of interest with you, your posts are either deleted or someone ends up being banned. Why do certain people get away with murder, so to speak, while others have their posts deleted? I'm sure that if a moderator gets out of hand John puts them in check. But I'm wondering why their posts rarely get deleted and a few of them appear to have free reign when is comes to insults?

There are also a few things I'd like to point out. I remember when UFpike was around and he always got into fights on GC with damasa, kddani (apparently he still fights with her), Hootie, KDatUTC and a few others. I find it ironic that he was banned as UFpikePC98 around the same time those who he fought with became moderators. If you go back and check the time frame those mentioned above became mods you will see that UFpikePC98 was banned shortly after. UFpike's banning was a must, he was bad. A question though, what about future people and their posts? In a few posts, which I can pull up, certain people threaten others with the possibility of being banned..........................However, it has been stated time and time again that ONLY John has the authority to ban. On the other hand I catch the stinch that many others have a say in what happens and how certain situations are dealt with. I realize that it's probably because moderators vote on certain situations but should some moderators actually be moderators at all? I'm also wondering if anyone else sees a decline in the amount of GC'ers who post because of the way forums such as chit-chat are being ran and how favortisim appears to a must within certain crowds of GC? And do any of you realize that message boards go stagnant because of actions like those that have been happening recently? Take note that this post is NOT directed to moderators alone, there are others out there in GC land that get away with a lot of B.S.

Zeta Ace has done a superb job refereeing the chit chat forum (cashmoney tips the hat to you lady) but she can't do everything. Now chit chat, under my impression, is supposed to be a forum where you can talk about almost anything and are supposedly allowed to express your opinion without being flamed in return. Yet more and more I am seeing how people get flamed over and over again, sometimes by the same individual/s, and nothing happens to certain people. In many cases the flamatory posts aren't even deleted. I'll venture to guess that 1/2 of the cheap shots taken on GC go unnoticed by many who could care less. On the otherhand some who are flamed don't report the posts for whatever reason and just let things die out. At the same time when certain individuals come back at those who come down on them rduely, their posts get deleted and are not even given a reason as to why it was deleted.

This post is NOT a flamatory post to moderators, don't turn it into one. I've been having serious doubts about GC lately. I see it turning into one of those boards where if you're not in favor with certain people or you just don't see eye to eye with certain people, there are some who will make things really bad for you on here. That in itself eventually turns into not stop fighting which will usually end in either you leaving the board or being kicked off.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Anyone else feel the same?

Is this not apart of life in ways that extend beyond GC? How do you handle those situations? We all know folks on the job who get away with MURDER - goof off, don't work, barely come into work, etc. and yet they are still employed. :o


Plus, GC is privately owned, so what can you REALLY do...

yah it's always been like this. i just LOL at the mods because they think they are so special online cuz they can edit/delete and cast a vote to ban me and IRL they are silly and goofy.

Thats true, honeykiss. But those who do things such as those you mentioned, they don't stay employed for long. And is it not a public message board? Anyone can join, right? There's no password inorder for you to get on the site. All you have to do is have a valid email account and follow that link.

I am the queen of GC. Everyone bows to my will. That is all you need to know.

Madam, I challenged you to a duel to settle this power struggle once and for all. Tommorow, high noon, by the church tower.

Some posters are really bad and are ultimately banned. If people don't complain to a moderator about a thread or a poster and if a moderator doesn't see it, it will remain. I think that the moderators do a good job. Blatantly offensive threads and posts are deleted quickly. Questionable threads are edited. For the most part, GC is a fun place to visit, read, and post. :)

True, but remember because this is a privately-owned site, the 1st Amendment flies right out of the window.

We are at the mercy, so to speak of the mods and John.

On a side note, if you feel like something posted or a poster is totally out of line, use the "report this post to the moderator" button or email John. You will get a response or results.
