Response to email

Hello Ladies,

I was wondering if any of you ladies ever sent an email to your city chapter/campus chapter for interest purposes or other reasons and not gotten a response? I have tried email (as given on the national homepage) just to get general info about my city chapter which is Alpha Sigma (graduate/undergrad who knows?) and have not received a response for three weeks. Am I being ignored or does it really take that long or longer to answer an email? Any and all answers will be greatly appreciated seeing how it is that I only have one last resort up my sleeve.

Hi Goodies!

I'm not a member, but I had to respond to your post. These are exclusively my opinions from years of research into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

They could be really busy. If it's a city-wide chapter, I would imagine so.
The webmaster doesn't like long e-mails. I know I don't. (I'll elaborate so that no one misconstrues what I'm trying to say.) If I receive an email that requires a long response, more than likely, I won't respond to it right away, because I don't have the time at the moment. I keep putting it off until days turn into weeks. Then my ISP deletes the saved mail.
Maybe they felt that you didn't research their chapter enough. A graduate chapter always ends with "Omega." Since your chapter of interest is "Alpha Sigma," it would be safe assume that it is an undergraduate chapter.
Have you tried the yellow pages?
A good place to look would be in one those local black businesses, community newsletters/magazines.
Do you volunteer in the community and/or with local civic organizations?
I hope this helps.

I really don't know how this is handled because I have never had to go this route, I would seek people out and speak to Sorors as opposed to sending e-mails. And if I get e-mails now I usually answer them in a timely fashion. But I would like to make one point. First research is key, come correct or don't come at all. If you have researched and found an e-mail there is usually an address too, maybe even a phone number. I would use all modes available. Also if you are out in the community working/volunteering you are bound to see a Soror and at that time you can discreetly ask her how to get in contact with the chapter, and find out about events.

Please don't hold your breathe waiting for a response form the National Website E-mail account because a lot of Chapters don't even check it. Sad to say, but we just got our password.

Just keep your eyes open for fliers of upcoming events or Sorors wearing her letters.

Good Luck!
