Have you used the Internet to cheat in school?

__ Yes.

__ No, but I was in college before the Internet was prevalent.

__ No, the Internet was around when I was in college, but I didn't cheat.

cheating is part of life

Nearly 40 percent of college students polled in a nationwide survey have plagiarized papers by lifting text from the Internet.

Rutgers-Newark management professor Donald McCabe headed the study of 18,000 students.

Less than 5 percent said they turned in assignments entirely downloaded from a Web site or purchased from a term paper mill.

Business majors admitted to the most cheating. They were followed by education majors, and journalism and communication majors. McCabe told The Star-Ledger of Newark that he was amazed that students use the excuse that cheating is part of life.

No, but I was in college before the internet was prevalent. I never cheated while I was in school. The punishment for plagiarism and cheating in college was an F in the class and a notation on the transcript.

Like plagiarism? Naw, I didn't use the internet to cheat when I was in college (1997-2001).

I havent used it to cheat, but I have looked up my topics on essays to get a better understanding and used some ideas, but not plagerized, I cited everything. Or just used it as a resource.

I never did it, because I was scared of getting an E on my transcript! UK was serious about plagiarism and cheating, and the very minimum punishment was a grade of E for a class. Yikes! That was enough to put the fear of God in me! But you know, all of us on here are intelligent enough that we don't have to resort to fudging, aren't we? ;)

Never plagerized, but the net is my best research buddy!

MeLikey 09-03-2003 11:33 AM

Never cheated using the Internet.

If you mean plagiarism, then no.

My roommate and I did, however, find a site about the change in the position of the sunset every day... We used this to do an astronomy project the day before it was due instead of having taken measurements and drawn pictures over the 3 weeks prior to that. We were definitely cheating there.

never cheated using the internet. i was in college 1996-2000

I would use the internet as research. There was only one time I'd say that I used it to cheat.

We had a group project in a class where we had to write a three page case analysis. We waited until the last minute. Some professor from Auburn had a case analysis already written on line for the same subject. We didn't copy it word-for-word but we did get a lot of ideas from the professor's paper. I felt bad. Never did that ever again.

No, never!

Cream, agree with you!:)

Hell, never heard of a computor, and not sure if I still know what the damn things are for!:(

Plagerism: Using someone elses product of research and writing as your own. BUT, if you foot note it, is not okay ?:D

Nope. I won't pay all that money for membership at freessays.com or whatever you call it. Here's the irony, if you're not familiar with this sort of thing, the essays are free, but the membership is not.

I have a 5 page paper due on Pratt's Contact Zone tomorrow at 11. Soooo...if anyone has access to any of those sites, hook a sister up. :p J/K
