What separates you from your parent(s)?

What physical traits, views (religious/political/social), and/or personality traits you DO NOT share with your parent(s)?

bethany1982 09-02-2003 03:45 PM

I am less religious than my parents (Mother). I am a little more conservative in my political views than both of my parents.

smiley21 09-02-2003 03:47 PM

i am more liberal in my religious and poilitical views (i.e. homosexuality, abortion....) than my parents

ZTAngel 09-02-2003 03:51 PM

All my family members (parents, sister, grandparents, etc) have jet black hair, brown eyes, and fair skin.
Somehow, I picked up some way recessive gene and got blonde hair, green eyes, and olive skin.
That's really the only difference. Me and my parents are pretty much on the same wavelength when it comes to religion and political stuff.

DZHBrown 09-02-2003 04:28 PM

I'm more conservative than my mother, less responsible than both, more sensitive than my father

valkyrie 09-02-2003 05:47 PM

I'm more spontaneous, much, much, MUCH more liberal and less responsible than my parents.

Rio_Kohitsuji 09-02-2003 05:50 PM

Well....I'm WAY less religious than either of my parents...especially my mother. *whew*

Umm.....I more liberal for now and just in general I have a different outlook on things.

Looks wise I look nothing like my mom and I don't even have one personality trait similar with her.

FiReKraCkEr 09-02-2003 05:53 PM

I am Christian, they are Buddhist.

I am more into emotions, and they are not.

I am very liberal and they are not.

KillarneyRose 09-02-2003 06:04 PM

I am a conservative Republican, they are diehard Democrats

I am Episcopalian, they are Roman Catholic

They like to "talk it out", I prefer to keep things to myself

They moved away from where they grew up and then moved back, I moved away from where I grew up and stayed away

MeLikey 09-02-2003 06:27 PM

My sister and I both have dimples (mine are a little bigger), and my parents don't have them. My mom always wanted dimples... she said that when she was younger she'd sleep with quarters in her cheeks just to try to get them so she loves our dimples.

My sister and I are both naturally tanner than my parents.

I'm obsessed with clothes, my mom's obsessed with jewelry.

I'm not good in math and I have the worst sense of direction, both of which are the opposite of my dad.

I'm more looser in my views about sex and dating, while my parents are more old fashioned.

What separates me from my parent?

About 1200 miles and 30 something years.

Dad and I don't have much in common. But he's still an OK guy.

Mom and I were a closer fit when she was alive.

aephi alum 09-02-2003 07:12 PM

I could go on all day! :p

I'm Jewish, they're Catholic
I'm a Democrat, they're Republicans
I'm pro-choice, they're anti-abortion
I'm greek, they're not ;)
Technology is second nature to me, they don't know how to turn their computer on
I deal with problems head-on, they pretend they don't exist

Optimist Prime 09-02-2003 07:24 PM

I'm more socially liberal.

AchtungBaby80 09-02-2003 09:23 PM

My mom has lots of freckles and darker skin, and I have no freckles and paler skin (except when I get a tan)...other than that, we look just alike.

Edited to Add: My parents think white people should not date/marry black people, and vice versa, and I don't agree with that. I'm starting to think that if people can find someone they're happy with, they're pretty lucky no matter what color the person is!
