Zta@usf
I hope to be part of ZTA's colonization at USF in Tampa. I received an email a couple weeks ago stating that reps will be on campus the first week of September for any other USF women that are interested. The email said they would be giving information out about events and even though they didn't state were to find the reps on campus, they did say it would not be hard to spot them. I'm very excited and I can't wait til ZTA gets here!

I was a part of the Delta Gamma colony at my school and it was one of the best experiences ever! You would get to be a part of making traditons that will last for years! If you have any questions, let me know!!

That is the very reason why I am holding out for ZTA. I think it is so exciting to be able to start traditions with this chapter that will continue for years. Hopefully ZTA will choose me as well.

We would be lucky to have you as a sister. Good luck!!!

Thank you so much, you are too kind! By the way, I see you like the Simpsons....best quote ever:

Have a great time. Good luck with the colonization process. Great to see a Florida story on GreekChat!! I will also echo Megan's comment that we would be so lucky to have you as our sister!!

ZTA is a fantastic sorority! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Thank you for all the support.
The only thing I am worried about is my age. I am ranked as a senior because I have taken summer school for the past two years but I still have two years left of school because I changed my major. Not to mention that rushing was not an option for me during my earlier years because of family finances. However, I personally worked a part time job and saved enough money up to join a sorority because it is something I've been wanting to do since sophomore year. I am trying to be realistic and not get my hopes up too high. On the other hand, my age could be a benefit to a new colony that does not have any older members. I can help the freshman out because I have been around the block. I can tell them where to get the best texbook prices and what professors to avoid, or what not to eat from the cafeteria, things like that. What do you guys think about this situation? I appreciate any honest answers given. |
When a colony is being organized, the organizers usually love to have older women and upper classmen apply. The colony needs to start out with a diversity of classes as well as older members to look to for leadership. So I'd say that is in your favor. Good luck ... keep us updated, please!!

I was a colonizing member of my chapter too. You should not have a problem because of class rank, especially if you tell them that you have two more years. They want to fill the classes in and not have it totally bottom heavy. Seniors that will be graduating will even be considered - even though not too many. Take a senior, add one year, and you have an instant alumn for your chapter...
Being a part of a colony is a TON of work, but it's so worth it! The traditions you start will be carried on for the rest of the chapters future!! |
So many girls that rushed the pre-existing sororities here told me that a colony is hard work, but I'm all for it. Since I won't get a full four years of collegiate membership, I want to be as involved as possible. I am going to run for an office if I am extended membership! So I am praying.

oh, and I will definitely keep you all updated on what's going on.

Hehe! You sound so much like me! It makes me giddy! Here was my colony rush thread:
http://greekchat.com/gcforums/showth...threadid=23956 You can see the general process (for DG at least)...even has a little ZTA spirit in it, my mom had breast cancer at the time (ZTA's philanthropy is the Breast Cancer Foundation). |
We do have a lot in common. I am glad you got to share that experience with your mother. My own mother had a breast cancer scare a year ago. While she wasn't diagnosed, it scared the day lights out of me and made me think about a lot of things. (Which is probably another reason why I feel an affection for ZTA.) You and your mother are both extremely strong women who are lucky to have each other.
On a lighter note, I noticed that we are both Elementary Education majors! Thank you for the thread, it gave me a good morale boost. Sorry this strayed off topic! |
go for it....it sounds like a possible perfect fit.
just let them know....what we already know....how good a soul you are.... good good luck. |
