LOL....you said he wasn't PC...i was wondering what you meant, but then I read it.
That's an interesting question though....on the whole, I don't notice NPHC fraternity men as up in arms about our badges being sold as I see our female counterparts. That's not to say that we don't care....I just don't see the same level of anger, i suppose. |

Phrat, when I read it, I was like..so we negroes again? Hmmmmmm, I didn't get the latest update....Let me go check my recent Ebony magazine LOLLLLL |
I just had to laugh when I saw that...too ridiculous

Well, some people are not with the times that is for sure. As to why some people get so up in arms as to why people are buying our badges, I think for me it's more when I bid on one that I really like that is old and has a sort of history behind it, it's disappointed when it get snatched up by a collector who has absolutely no link to my fraternity.
I understand liking the way our badeg looks, it's gorgeous, but why would you want it if you were not a member? |

Steeltrap, I agree.
Okay, so I've been graped....should I call 911? |
The proper way to dispose of a pin is to have your signifigant other foward it to the National Office of your Org. Or write it in your will. Either way let them know what you are planning to do!

"Alpha Phi Alpha Gold Negro Fraternity Pin"
"Alpha Phi Alpha was founded in 1906 by Negro college students at Cornell University. . ."
This is the title and description copied and pasted from the ebay page featuring the Alpha pin. Was anybody else on here shocked and/or disgusted to see this description on ebay? I guess I'm a little too optimistic at times, but it is still sad and surprising to me when I see cases of such blatant ignorance like this. It's 2003, are people REALLY out there still saying "Negro Fraternity"??? |

I can see where it may be offensive, but I find "colored" more offensive. |

No, I got ya both beat! My mother is brighter than most white people and my birth certificate has her listed as "negro".
1975 was my birthyear. |
