can she be initiated?

Hello everyone, we had a girl go through the new member period only to decide not to be initiated 1 week before initiation because of health issues. That was in January. Now she is all better and is looking to rejoin her pledge class. Is there any way she can still be initiated? or does she have to wait to join this fall's class (in November) and go through their new member period, even though she's already learned everything?

Please help me clear this up, as far as the agd policy state.

Carla, the answer is "it depends." Under what circumstances did she leave? Is she caught up with her finances? Did she pass her new member examination? That will affect your course of action.

Talk to your chapter advisor first. If she doesn't know, this is a good question for your PDC.

Carla - I'm sure your chapter has the newly released Membership Handbooks. It's covers these types of scenarios quite well! I would check there first, then your CA and then your PDC if you still can't find the answers you are looking for!

Good luck! Lori

When I was a collegian, Elizabeth went through her new member period in the Fall...and completed all but the final week of her Fraternity Education. In addition to that, she had taken care of all her financial obligations and passed her NM test with flying colors. She had an emergency and had to leave town that week and she ultimately missed the initiation. After consulting with the CA, she returned in the Spring and served as a "helper" for the VPMD and MD Advisor, and was finally initiated that following Spring.

All situations are different, so I'm going to echo what Maria and Lori said...consult the handbook, your CA, and your PDC if necessary. All the best of luck to her and your chapter!
