Hello to all, since onesavvydiva got us started with the whole VMA's I thought I'd pose this topic. Did anyone see them? I think overall, it was a pretty good show. I think a lot of people who won last night, deserved too i.e Aaliyah and Macy Gray. It wasn't totally a popularity contest. And my baby's mama Mrs. Jackson if you're nasty represented. She really showed other people how to perform. Note to Brittany Spears: That crap you call performing is just that, CRAP! To end this I wanna say that if you saw the show and you saw Whitney and Bobby, I don't need to say anymore. Rehab people.

LOL about the rehab stuff, I did not see the entire show, but I will catch the reruns ...then we can chat more.

I didn't catch the very beginning. I missed Janet and Whitney & Bobby. I saw the rest. I don't know...I think some of the awards were based on popularity.

As for the performances - I agree wholeheartedly.

What was up with the guy that climbed on the stage setup?

I'll catch the beginning this weekend.

Yes I saw Bobby and Whitney. Why does she feel she has to drag him everywhere she goes? Haven't you noticed anytime she presents a award, either he is mentioned (King of R & B..remember when Whitney gave him that title http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif ) or he just happens to pop up on stage with nothing to say. If they wanted Bobby to appear with Whitney, they would have given him a few lines to say with Whitney. But I guess they are high and in love... http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif. I felt that eminem was totally out of line withe the Britney Spears, Christine aguilera and N'Sync remarks. There are not bothering you so why do you keep harping on them. Like someone on the radio said, Eminem need to get his a** kicked. That would help deflate that ego of his.

...and did you guys see when Whitney asked Bobby if he knew who won the award...and he was like "I really don't care"...WHAT WAS THAT. I believe they should have added HIM to that list of performers who are no longer with us.

...and is it just me...but should D'Angelo have received an award just for the pure originality of his video? And did anyone hear that story about him and Brittany Spears...I heard it on the radio, but that's the last place I heard it...if you haven't, post, and I will post what I heard.

...and why did Eminem get like 10 minutes to perform and everyone else got like 4-5 minutes. TV companies LOVE scandal...don't they. They knew he was the hottest ticket on the show...this boy had GLAAD protesting out on the street!

...and WHY oh WHY was Nellie walking around looking like he was trying to find the bathroom. I mean sagging your pants is one thing...but for a minute, I thought he had lost his pants...WHAT WAS THAT?

...and why did Brittany's momma let her go out on stage dressed like that...that girl is only like 17!!! She dresses a little to provocative for her age, in my opinion.

...and why didn't Lauryn Hill win anything for her video "Everything is Everything", I thought that that was a very good concept for a music video.

...and why don't we have like BET video music awards? Do you think it would be as highly rated/accepted?

Yes, I thought the VMA performances were GREAT! I thought they were waaaay better than last year. So here are my comments:

What WAS up w/ Nelly? I agree w/ onesavvydiva, his pants...UGH! I hate that! Gross. That's not cute...at all!

Janet was tight! I'm glad she performed. You can always count on Janet for a GREAT performance.

Ok, I may be the only one feeling this, but Nsync--where the heck did they learn to dance like that!? Did they get their groove ON or what!? I was all in the t.v. like "go Nsync, get busy, it's ya birthday!" I really enjoyed their performance. The video screens...sweeeeeet! I was feeling them.

I was very happy Aaliyah won, but I was MAD at Ricki Martin for mispronouncing her name.

Ok, why were the Wayans NOT funny!? Any other time, I would've been rolling, but they weren't that great to me. I did like the Chris Rock impersonation though. And their clothes were pretty nice too. But I wasn't feeling their jokes.

Eminem...hmmm, I liked the performance. I couldn't believe he had all them dudes w/ him like in the video. That was sweet. But did ya'll notice that they all just totally disappeared? I was like "uh, where did they go?" I agree, that he needs a swift kick in the a** cuz the Britney, Christina, Nsync jokes--they're getting old and ignorant. I don't understand why he's so worried about them. They say NOTHING about him.

Britney--was it me or was she lipsyncing...AGAIN!? And her oufit...I thought she was naked at first. That was too much and she needs to calm herself.

Ok, I think I'm done for now. I'll be back w/ more when I can remember something.

Overall, I think that the show was pretty good. I agree that D'angelo and Lauryn Hill should have won awards for their videos. Mr. Marshall Mathers tripped me out when he accepted his award and said he thought that Brittany and Christina were presenting it. I guess there would have been (in the voice of Bernie Mac)"trouble trouble". The skit about Macy Gray was hilarious. I enjoyed seeing the William's sisters' response to those commercials. I'm sorry NUPE4LIFE, but I have to comment on your baby's mama. I enjoyed her performance, she performs very well live. But the outfits? What was up with the Gothic clothing? It just did not work well with the song and dance. I mean, in the video for the song, the "club kids" look worked perfectly. I think that the "Interview with a Vampire" look was a bad choice. Also, last point. I was a little disappointed in the hosting by the Wayans brothers. They weren't funny. I guess Chris Rock is a hard act to follow. Jim Carey had me ROTFL when he made that joke about Damon and Kenan.

Onesavvydiva, I'm feeling you on that Common...I'm listening to him right now....Time Traveling...

What's with D'Angelo and Brittany? Haven't heard that one yet. And why does intuition tell me that I don't wanna know?

Nupe4Life...no, it's nothing like that. Actually WE ought to be quite proud of the brother. I heard this on the radio, and several people emailed me from other states saying that they heard it too. Well, they were in Atlantic City, and D'angelo and his bodyguard and like one other person were about to get on the elevator. Brittany Spears and her bodyguard and I think one other person were about to get on too. So Brittany says..."I am sorry this elevator is broken"...So I guess D'angelo turns around as he waits for another elevator, but when he turns back around he sees Brittany and her people getting on that same ""BROKEN"" elevator. He said he knew that it was working because the lights went on that signaled the floors.

So later he sees her in the hotel...and he goes up to her and he says(something to the effect of...and don't quote me)...I just wanted to introduce myself to you. So then she's like "Oh, D'angelo...I love your music, and your new video is awesome" and stuff like that. So he's like don't even try it..I saw you get on the elevator. I've been in this game longer that you've even thought about it, and you tried to play me like I am some common criminal. (I don't know if he said all of this to her...but this is what he said in the interview. But he basically let her know that he knew what she did, and he wanted to make sure that she knew who he was) So then, he goes to her record company, and he demanded a PUBLIC apology, and he got one from both her AND the record company.

Whew...my fingers hurt! Can't type as fast as I can run my mouth!

But anyway, I am glad that he just didn't let it go. You see how some people are, be up on stage saying how much they like this artist and that artist, but let them see them out in the street and not recognize them...you just an average 'bro'.

Nupe...I LOVE Common's new CD! I like TimeTravelin also...that is a CD that I can actually play all the way through without programming to skip over certain songs!

I am not surprised about Britney, cause she is from a little small, red neck town down here in Louisiana. The same place where my sweetie is from.

I liked the spoofs that the Wayans' did on Macy and the Williams sisters. Rather, I thought they were funny.

Chris should have been the host again. I guess he stepped on too many toes last year. Hey! the truth does hurt sometimes....

N'Sync's performance was tight. I like Christina...she always sings LIVE! Britney...here today...gone tomorrow. Her time will be up soon! She is another Debbie Gibson...remember her?

I don't think Destiny's child should have gotten anything...just for the PRINCIPLE of the situation!
